It's the year of
Kell. After appearing on
The Hills and
The City, lady-of-the-moment
Kelly Cutrone has arrived. A fascinating little spitfire, Cutrone is well-known in the small fashion circle that is New York City. But after Bravo gave KC her very own
reality series, Cutrone is fast becoming the next pop culture icon. We're two months into 2010, and already Cutrone has a book and TV show. Hot damn. Her book,
If You Have To Cry, Go Outside...And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You is a combination of "this is what I went through" and "this is how I can help you" for the young girls and gays. Cutrone's strongest asset is her ability to keep it real. She was able to channel this gift through the power of the pen/keyboard/ghost writer, urging aspiring
Laurens and
Whitneys to dig deep for confidence. Life sucks and there's no point in crying. Get out of bed, take a shower and go yell at someone for their careless mistakes.
I watched the premiere of
Kell On Earth last Monday and paid attention to every detail that makes Cutrone who she is. Who knocked her up? Who was she before the cameras started rolling? How much of this is an act? I searched
New York Magazine and
Gawker, two staples of every New Yorker's reading requirements, for anything that would help me learn the history of Kelly Cutrone. There didn't appear to be many skeletons she was
trying to hide.
