Don't think you can just insult Brooke Shields and that's it, Tom. She has a few things to say.
Cruise - who has helped people fight drug addictions through his controversial Scientology religion - recently attacked Shields for becoming dependant on anti-depressant Paxil, following the birth of her daughter Rowan. And someone who seems to be living his life in denial. And Shields has continued her war of words against Cruise following his "dangerous" comments, by offering him a child ticket so he can take Holmes to see her in hit London musical Chicago.
She says, "If he wants to see Chicago, I've left him two tickets - one adult, one child."
The actress recently took a swipe at Cruise's religious beliefs, by saying she wouldn't take advice from someone who devotes his life to aliens.
Shields Mocks Cruise and Holmes' Romance [contactmusic]

AER says:
Oh, my god... Brooke Shields is AWESOME.
doofus says:
I'm with you, AER.
HOW DARE HE say what he did. When he's able to get pregnant and experience post-partum first-hand, then, and ONLY then, will he have any credibility in commenting on it.
also LOVE the comment on how he devotes his life to aliens...you tell him, Brooke!
Erica
What an asshole! To whom did he say those awful things? I'd appreciate a link because it's so hard to believe someone would say something that cold. Not to offend he and Nicole, but they adopted their kids...He shouldn't comment on something he knows absolutely nothing about!
Bedstuy says:
I agree on the adoption part. I mean he's male so he could not possibly experience the aftermath of childbirth but his ex-wife did not go through it either so where is all of his wisdom coming from. Brooke rocks!
Tom Cruise is a jackass.
(no discredit to Nicole or the fool Tom-I think more people should stop taking chances on their crazy ass genes and adopt! Save a kid possibly spare a nation. Can you imagine an extra Tom? )
doofus says:
Erica...
he said those things to an interviewer who had spoken to him for one of those tabloid-type shows..."Access Hollywood" or some other such garbage. I read an article that referred to the interview, so I don't know exactly which show it was.
he's also quoted as saying things to the effect of "there's no scientific proof that chemical imbalances are real".
I'd like to know when and where he received his medical degree.
here's a link to one article about it...

Thaddeus van Worthingheimer says:
Brooke Shields is now my role model. I've stopped liking Tom Cruise after he said the noble profession of psychiatry was "pseudo science", "a fraud" and "should be outlawed". The only thing that I see as a fraud and "pseudo" is his "psuedo-relationship" was Katie Holmes.
BTW, my major and minor in college was/is pre-med and psychiatry, respectively. So that's why I took offense to his comments.
Thaddeus van Worthingheimer says:
^Correction:
Psychology was my minor, not psychiatry. Psychiatry was the overall objective, but the immediate minor was psychology.
And "was Katie Holmes" in the third sentence should be "with Katie Holmes".
Sorry. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to these things.
doofus says:
I also took offense...
although I've never visited a psychiatrist myself, I do have friends and family that have, and still do.
I also have friends and family members whose lives have been changed dramatically for the better since they started taking prozac or paxil or effexor. they've said they feel like a new person. anti-depressants are certainly not for everyone, and they are definitely overprescribed, but they ARE amazingly effective for some of the people in this world. and for Tom Cruise to think he knows more than thousands of doctors, scientists and pharmacologists is just outrageous.
I used to like him, but lately...not so much.
/-\Alexander/-\ says:
Poor, foolish Tom. Who knew he had a vagina and a dpressed, post-pregnant woman's mind to boot? Maybe he's trying to tell us something: like most of my gay bretheren, being negative and fawning over our "girlfriends" were comman symptoms before we CAME OUT. He's losing his mind...without some dick in his life, that is. Haha.
/-\Alexander/-\ says:

boy, do I loathe my own spelling errors.
La Canada says:
I never knew Brooke had so much chutzpah! She seems like such a meek, soft-spoken type. She certainly isn't A-List, so I find it mighty brave that she would fight back against Mr. A-List, Tom Cruise.
elite814 says:
I'm glad she stood up to him. When did he start mouthing off? He is Ridiculous. I'm not a fan.
Alice says:
Tom Cruise is an insensitive jerk, and clearly, takes himself very seriously.
I've been sick of him since 1980 something. I think he's a boring actor, and I don't really find him that attractive. Now I see him as an ignorant pig (sorry to the swines out there) as well.
I really wish he would go away...or at least not get the roles for movies that I would love were it not for his appearance in them.
Seriously, Tom. Can't you just shut the fuck up?
Brooke, you are brave and beautiful. Ignore the troglodyte!
anne arkham says:
Go Brooke!
I suffer from mental illness (as do several members of my family) and I can tell you that living a healthy lifestyle is helpful in fighting it, but even so, many of us have no choice but to go on medication. There is nothing wrong with that.
Tom Cruise's implication otherwise only contributes to the stigma of mental illness, which prevents people from seeking help, and hurts fundraising for research. Who the hell does he think he is?
Liz says:
Brooke is an educated, classy woman. I wish her and her family all the best.
Tom Cruise is an ass! Next he will be doling out free advice on marriage. He is going on number 3, right? Katie Holmes, talk to Nicole before you marry this jerk! It's sad to see him snow this young girl with his crap.
Elisa says:
Haha...Brooke Shields was and still is so cool. Tom is psycho...I wouldn't take to much to heart anything he has to say....about anything. It was his insistence on speaking about scientology a few years ago that made his publicist of like 10 years dump him.
Jax says:
Excellent...
Jax
whatever says:
what tom cruise said about brooke shields was wrong; he's a dick for it.
BUT...stop kissing brooke's ass long enough to wonder why she's talking shit about katie, too. katie isn't the one who insulted her. that was pretty immature.
and a 26 year old isn't a child. why are people acting like katie holmes is 16? this is getting fucking silly. shes a grown ass woman, closer to 30 then to 20.
ma says:
That is true whatever.
Katy says:
I just read in the latest Entertainment Weekly that Tom believes antidepressants make people "numb" like opium does. That's the type of thinking that kept me from seeking help for depression for several years--years I could have been functioning normally and not contemplating my medicine cabinet trying to figure out what I could mix to end it all.My kids would have been motherless by now if I hadn't finally taken that step to help myself.I think Brooke did a great thing in going public with her experience. She amazed me in her Oprah interview with her bravery and honesty. I wish she'd left Katie out of her replies to Tom, but when we're hurt and furious, we can say some regretable things.
Judy says:
Who regards Tommy as an "A" lister anymore? He started slipping down when he dumped a pregnant Nicole. Now he's ridiculing and bitterly criticizing a new mom. His comments on anti-depressants are just not factual. They show his absolute ignorance... talking like clinically proven medicines are nothing more than crack or heroin? It's highly irresponsible, queer. You go, Brooke. We're with you. StICK TO fighting space aliens, Tommy Loony Tune.
medea says:
I want Tom to work a suicide hotline and a maternal ward at a hospital so he can channel his ideas into experience, asshole.
Kristi says:
I just saw a repeat of the interview where Tom made all his stupid, uninformed comments and I was so angry afterwards! I was planning on seeing "War of the Worlds" because I loved the original, but after watching this arrogant, self-righteous jerk spout off about something he knows nothing about, I will never spend another penny to see one of his movies - not even on video. He claims he has helped people, but he's full of shit. There is absolutely nothing to admire about this idiot. Paramount Pictures needs to put a lid on him and his "expert" opinions and his raving about his Scientology beliefs before he pisses off so many people that no one will come near any movie with him in it.
I also want to say that I have tremendous admiration for Brooke in coming forward to talk about something that was so painful and personal. She is doing a great service to the women who suffer from postpartum depression by being so candid about her own experiences. I'm sure by sharing her experiences she will be helping thousands of women to get the help they need instead of keeping it a secret because they are ashamed.
Kay says:
Tom Cruise is as weak as his words. He is a pathetic movie star desperately trying to hang on to his youth and former popularity.Trying to keep up with Ashton and Orlando is work isn't it Tommy Boy?Why is it you can't seem to stay married? Is marriage a pseudo-commitment?You need a psychiatrist Bud! You are starting to believe your own B.S.
And by the way, your acting is so forgetable. You don't have the ability to make people believe it's anyone other than you .
Go finish high school. That would be a start.
LH says:
Tom Cruise was once my fave actor.
I recall his early films like The Outsiders
as truly classic. I never imagined that I would come to actually loathe him for his religion.
Aliens have done all this to man?
Puhleeze Tom.
Man is responsible for what he is and does and certainly not any body inhabiting aliens from thousands of years ago. Tom is what..... an OT111, well by then you must be so brainwashed that you do believe in aliens and the rest of the crap this malicious and deceiving faith professes. The Church realised it can easily buy Katie Holms and she fell for it.
She was not the first actress lined up for the once again single Tom but the others did not comply.
Wake up Katie.
RL Hubbard is laffing all the way to bank even in his grave.
L2theH says:
Tom Cruise is an amazing example of what happens when everyone around you kisses your ass night and day for years and years. I've never thought he was all that good as an actor but he has those boyish good looks which go a reeeeeaaaalllll long way for him. But when he insists on putting down Brooke for using Paxil, he is going way too far. And as an ex-Scientologist, I know for a fact that it is bullshit. L. Ron Hubbard once said, as a writer, "you'll never get rich being paid a penny a word,... want to be rich? Start your own religion". Tom cruise needs to rethink the statements he makes about things he barely understands, and he needs to shut the f#ck up about things he doesn't.
K says:
I am so upset, excuse me for being so unarticulated... Tom is full of horse-shit. He has lost many fans from his uninformed comments of anti-depressants, including myself. I used to think of him as a great actor and good role model, but now I say he is just full of horse-shit and I have no respect for him. Brooke is right to defend herself and I stand by her. I wish I could get Mr. Cruise on the phone...
Jen says:
I was planning to watch the War of the Worlds, but I think I won't, after I knew Tom is psycho!! Perhaps Tom is referring himself as an alien.. such a jackass!!
Jimmy says:
I am not a fan of Tom Cruise, but I do respect him. I don't know much about Scientology, but I do know that it is protected under the Constitution of the United States and that it has been recognized as a religion by the highest courts in America. What I have read about Scientology and seen with my own eyes is favorable. It is an applied philosophy that is passionate about the betterment of mankind and is actually doing something about it. What is so wrong with that? People, you have to have an open mind. Be willing to accept other viewpoints in life. Stand up and question the "medical profession." I am going to learn more about Scientology.
TractorTire says:
Hey Whatever, I think the insult WAS directed at Tom. I think she was implying that the child's ticket was for him.
L2theH says:
Just a message for Jimmy (#29). I've been on the inside of Scientology. IT IS A CON!! They use cleverly constructed methods of mind control called auditing over long periods of time to control people. People everywhere are turning over everything they own and are turning their backs on their loved ones who disagree with it. Do you think that that is providing "betterment"? Go ahead and dive into Scientology. You will quickly learn what it is about, my friend. Hope you can come to your senses quickly enough before they empty your pockets and your mind.
holly says:
Tom Cruise is such a shmuck. Soooo not cool.
Yvette says:
Just a quick comment to Jimmy's post.
Where's Tom's open mind to others and their beliefs? It pisses me off that he is going around blabbing about Scientology, but when he's asked a question or is confronted with the things he has said he gets indignant. If he didn't want anyone asking him questions he shouldn't have put it out there. Tom looks and acts like a person who needs to be on Paxil or maybe Lithium for that multiple personality disorder he has going! Katie is a poor ignorant girl who is dating a man that she dreamed about as a little girl. I hope she wakes up from her dream and realizes Tom is a nut!
I also believe that Tom needs to finish High School and get a Medical License before I or anyone else takes anything he has to say as fact. Brooke on the other hand is a Harvard(or is it Yale?) graduate.I'm more apt to believe something she says.
Kudos to the poster that said
"And by the way, your acting is so forgetable. You don't have the ability to make people believe it's anyone other than you ."
Glad that I'm not the only person who thinks that his acting lacks, well...acting!
AND, Tom is a perfect example of what happens when the people around you are always saying yes!
It might also help if he came out of the closet!
Yvette says:
She went to Princeton...God I love the internet!
Jason says:
I too found Tom's comments to be in bad taste.
My mother told me that for a couple of weeks after giving birth to me she would sometimes randomly cry, and it was due to hormonal/chemical inbalances that go along with being pregnant and then giving birth.
As far as I know Tom has never been pregnant and the only source of his "knowledge" is that psychotic cult of his known as scientology.
I have moved past anger and feeling of "WTF is wrong with him" and I am now concerned for his (and Katie's) mental and physical well-being.
If you look scientology up online you will come across a plethora of websites documenting ex-members horror stories of being held against their will, and one case in which a woman actually died while in the church's custody.
We have a man promoting a very dangerous institution and I do think the church as well as Tom's involvement (especially considering he is allegedly raising his two children under this "faith") should be investigated.
I don't support organized religion in general (far too many people have died already from petty arguments) but this one cult really scares the shit out of me.
Too bad Katie isn't as bright as Scarlet Johansson... when Tom took her to the scientology center in LA, Scarlet did what any sane person would have done:
Run like hell!
Deck says:
Retardation is alive and well on socialitelife.com.
Rather than take time to actually argue Tom's point, they just sit and bitch. None of the supporters of Brooke have a medical degree either (except maybe for that one pussy college person (with a minor in psychiatry or psychology or whatever), whose name (and a shitty long one at that) is a link to a bunch of homoerotic tabloid pictures of celebrities in their underwear and other perverted shots. We should go on the word of this person? O.K.....
Anyway, the commentors on this page would ask Tom to show his medical degree and has claimed Tom is full of shit. Yet they don't provide their medical degree or even facts to back up their claims. So if someone disagrees with a certain medical field or practice they have to have a medical degree, but if you do agree with that you're O.K. because you're in the popular opinion.
They also say Tom's behavior is outrageous because he jumped around and acted very excited on "Opera". I see. So it's better if some dumbfuck bitch or dipshit husband or some other shallow loser comes on the show to talk about their stupid problems that even a monkey could solve, talk about a grave emotional experience or share the latest fashion/cosmetic tips; or if some victim/survivor of a disturbing crime or disastor shares their horrifying experience, but if an "over-the-top" guy excited about life and his new love comes on the show and shares his happiness he's nuts? I don't get it. I would think the guy who cheats on his wife all the time, the woman who spends too much money or the husband and wife that had too many kids and are now overburdened are nuts. But that's just me. I mean, I guess I could understand how such a guy who doesn't hold back showing his happiness and joy is crazy.
And how exactly did Tom deter women from seeking medical treatment for Postpartum Depression? Didn't he talk about some other possible cures? I only heard him bash the use of psychiatric drugs.
Oh, and before I forget to mention this, Scarlett Johanson is a bitch in case you didn't know. That's not a comment on her acting or movies, just her personality.
I might also add that it's nice to see all the brave people come out of the woodwork to talk about how they hate Tom's acting as soon as everyone else is talking about it. You guys have balls.
And what's the deal with this "concern" with Katie Holmes? I mean, like someone said earlier, she's a fucking adult closer to 30 than 20. Her romantic choices aren't any of your business really. I would say Nick Lache and Jessica Simpson's relationship are more of a sham than Tom and Katie's. Oh, wait, Nick and Jessica aren't crazy because they have a stupid reality show on their personal lives and don't have talent.
It's also funny how people would bring up Tom's religion as a way of discrediting him. Again, this is a convinient alternative to actually bringing up facts. And Tom seems like a pretty nice, down-to-earth guy. At least that's what the press always says about him (until the "ET" and "Today Show" interviews), yet he's weird for believing in a strange, dangerous "cult". A little weak for me. Do you people have a degree in theology then for making comments on someone's religion?
In defense of both Tom and Brooke, the story of the post says Brooke said Tom devotes his life to aliens. However, I read a transcript of the actual comment, and she was talking about him fighting aliens, as in his movie. She was a bitch for making that cheap remark about the "Chicago" tickets though.
Bottom line: show some facts or your medical degree or stop crying your pussy-ass comments. Half of you losers are diagnosed crazy anyway.

Deck, I couldn't agree more. You said exactly what I was thinking but finding hard to put into words.
He's obviously the only clear thinker here, and I'm surprised he even wasted his time on this ridiculous site.
theresa says:
When Tom gets pregnant and goes through 9 months of body changes, 36 hours of labor and have his life completely change withthe birth of a baby, then he will have a right to give advice to other mothers. He better hope katie doesn't come out pregnant and get depressed. Whats he gonna do, give her green tea and have her chanting !
Conrad James says:
Hey, doesnt everyone have a right to voice their own oppinion?
auntsherbear420
I must have missed the part where Tom Cruise actually gave birth and has had to go through P/P depression. Everyone may be intitled to an oppion but perhaps it should be on something he has experienced. BRAVO to you Brook Shields, for keeping your class while you school a fool
Charlie_Beth_Hayden
Tom C. is a shovenistic insensitive pig! How dare he say what he said. I take offence mainly because I suffer from a mental illness and have suffered through depression and yes I take medication for it. I may not have suffered through the same type of depression as Brook S. but I do understand Depression in it's main points and medication and family support had helped me through it. I apploude Brook for her coming out and speaking about it because being depressed is NOT something you should be ashamed of. I also apploude Brook for her fireing back at Tom. Let me have a go at Pigheaded Brainwashed Cruise, lock me up in a room with him and I will make sure no amout of plastic surgery could ever reconstruct his look and that he will never have any more kids.
dazeemai
Deck, you're a dick and a chauvenist. Pussy this bitch that, fuck whatever, etc. Jeez, you're a loveable guy. You didn't even say anything about what this blog is about; that being Tom's attack on Brooke Shields "personally" for her use of the antidepressant Paxil for post-partum depression. He doesn't have a medical degree and neither do you (nor I for that matter). But I do have depression, and if it weren't for Prozac I wouldn't be here today. I also chose not to "procreate" because I didn't want to take the chance that my child would have to suffer the way I have (my disease is genetic). I didn't see the show (do you sit around and watch talk shows Deck?), but if Brooke chose to take Paxil instead of Tom's "other options," then so be it. Oh, and do you know Scarlett Johannson personally? I didn't think so. I don't know you, but I'm still going to call you a dick for what you have said that is hurtful and stupid, okay? This is America and people can do or say whatever they wish. Now that we know Katie is pregnant, I certainly hope whatever choices she makes after their child is born works for her. Hopefully she won't have depression afterwards. But if she does, I hope she makes a well-informed decision on what to do about it. It's HER body and HER mind that she needs to worry about, not what Tom thinks. So, this pussyfuckingbitch thinks you should let go of the remote control, stop scratching your crotch, and grow a brain. Was that rude? I apologize; one of my "retarded crazy-ass loser" personalities must have been typing.
Tomas Ganiron Jr says:
Well, Tom should be very careful in giving example especially in behalf of Ms Shield since she has a purpose. I dont like the way he react regarding the career of Ms shield since some of his movies flopped in Asian countries and he even always lose in Oscar Awards. I think before you critized a person, he should see first yourself and not the others. I think he has 6 marriage that do not suceed because of his personality and character.
