Apparently, the reason why Stuart Townsend was not at the Academy Awards with Charlize Theron is because he was working. If this is the case, then Charlize must have felt she had no chance of winning, so she told him not to bother to come. Typically, a denial from a publicist is followed by a break up a few weeks later. So lets wait and see on this one.
Charlize Theron has fired back at weekend reports she has split from boyfriend Stuart Townsend, insisting the pair are still together.The actress has been spotted alone at various recent awards ceremonies, including the Oscars, where she took her mum as her date, but she insists that's simply because her Irish lover has been away working.
Following the latest Hollywood split announcement, Theron's publicist, Amanda Silverman, has released a statement saying: "Stuart and Charlize have not broken up.
"Next week everyone will be calling me saying they were married. We can't win."

Funny, but there are some couples which I secretly am rooting for. Reese Witherspoon and Ryan; Charlize Theron and Stewart Townsend; Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson; Johnny Depp et al; and a few others. I root for them because the sense I get is that they respect their relationships and keep themselves and their relationships out of the press. So, I am pleased to hear that they are still together and will continue to root for them... unless... they start amassing children, I get buried in constant photos of them and Stewart starts to wear a stretched out ped sock on his head. Then I will just have to reconsider. ;-)

One thing I will say about Charlize and Stuart is that unlike other hollywood couples who parade their personal lives for the stalkerazzi(TomKat comes to mind), these two keep their personal lives to themselves.

While walking the red carpet during the Oscars, she said that he was off filming a movie in the jungle. She went on to say that it was even hard for her to reach him, let alone expect him to be with her. I believe her.
