Have A Socialite Night-1

New York City:

For a change of pace, stop by the 40/40 Club on Friday night and attend a book release party complete with plenty of free gifts to score. Busta Rhymes is among the "invited" guests, but free MAC makeup is a pretty good incentive on its own. [Link]

Not for the weak of heart, the first (and last?) Main Squeeze Accordion Festival takes place Saturday in Riverside Park South. If you've got your own accordion, bring it by around 8:30 - for the last half hour, everyone in the audience is welcome to play along. [Link]

The Los Angeles and Chicago events are after the jump.

Los Angeles:

The "Flower Power" themed Orange County Fair begins this weekend with performances by Switchfoot and Lit on Saturday night. More flower-ready artists, including Linda Rondstadt and Seal will appear throughout the month, so keep checking in. [Link]

The 2006 Cher Convention kicks off Friday with an endless supply of Cher memorabilia, Cher impersonators and borderline obsessive fans. Admission is free, so don't feel bad if you walk in and find yourself too overwhelmed to stay. At the Marriot Warner Center. [Link]

Chicago:

Macy Gray performs Friday night at Taste of Chicago. The show is free, so go ahead and spend all the money you would've (our wouldn't have) spent to see her to buy some good food instead. [Link]

Boston band Harry and The Potters perform Saturday night at Beat Kitchen. Everything about the boys' tour, from their scarlet robes to their opening act (Draco and the Malfoys), is inspired by the Harry Potter series. Non-fans, be warned. [Link]
