RE: Jake possibly being gay... First of all, I realize that the perpetually single status of a guy who could get any girl he wanted to is somewhat questionable. But not everyone dates just for the hell of it, or to prove that they're not gay. It's possible he's just picky and doesn't want to date and/or "have" every girl in a 100 mile radius just because he can. Secondly, his sister fixed him up with Kirsten Dunst. So if he's gay, Maggie didn't know it at the time (which seems unlikely given how close their family is), OR she did and simply set the two up for a two year charade which somehow Kirsten was completely unaware of. That's a hell of a conspiracy. And if Jake dated her to try to play straight, why did they break up and then reunite to give it another go? Wouldn't round one have done what it needed to do with the media? And why oh why if Jake were gay and didn't want anyone to know would he star in Brokeback Mountain, setting himself up for the inevitable scrutiny? He seems smarter than that. And lastly, yes Jake spends a lot of time with his guy friends. But girls spend one-on-one time with their girlfriends all the time! They have dinner, share desserts, go to the movies and (gasp) sit next to each other, they link arms while walking, etc. Why are girlfriends allowed one-on-one time with each other but not guy friends? Isn't that stereotyping?
