According to TMZ, the mysterious medical illness that was the cause of Paris Hilton's release from jail to serve her time under house arrest is Attention Deficit Disorder:
We're told Hilton is taking Adderall for her ADD. Although our sources were not specific, we're told Hilton was not receiving all of her medications at Lynwood. As a result, Hilton was having severe panic attacks in jail. There were times she was so debilitated, she could not push the panic button in her cell.Hmm, now I might feel sorry for her if I didn't know that her dad is already trying to sell the concept of a "Get Out of Jail" party for Paris to a club in Vegas. These people are so gross. Also, I have emotional ADD, so I've already pretty much forgotten that I was feeling slightly bad for her at the beginning of this paragraph.

Yep. Adderall is indeed abused frequently by anorexics so that they can keep themselves from having an appetite.
As to her panic state, it's probably as a result of the fact she feels she will get fat if she doesn't take her Adderall (which is possible since your metabolism is nil after coming off things like that and you gain a shitload of weight).

Adderall doesn't work as speed if you have ADD/ADHD. It stabalizes your system. In people that have ADD it has the opposite effect.
My child has it and is on Adderall and how dare that ho make excuses like that. ADD/ADHD is a legitimate disease but she's just a spoiled rich brat who needs to be let out into general population.

college kids (and older) crush up adderal and ritalin and all the other ADD medications and snort it just like cocaine. It has virtually the same effect.

I have Adult ADD and I used to take Alderall because it would suppress my appetite as well as balance my mood. When I dropped too much weight (got down to 95 lbs... not good on a 5'4 black girl), my Dr. put me on Stratera.
While I can imagine that Paris need medication of some kind, I must re-iterate that these meds are approved for in-jail use. If an inmate has an existing condition, then the system allows for the jail MDs and Nurses to administer meds under strict supervision. Paris' people should have filed the proper paperwork just after the sentencing and before she was remanded to assure she received her meds while in jail. It's standard procedure.
Besides, I've known Cancer patients who have received chemo treatments in jail or have been allowed to receive treatments outside the jail under heavy guard, so ADD should be easy for the county system to handle.
