Maybe it's because he's--I don't know--an actual humanitarian, whereas the closest thing I've been that resembles one of those thingamajiggies is a human, which apparently, doesn't count. U2 frontman, Bono, was recently bestowed with the honor of the Liberty Medal, as a result of his long-time philanthropic efforts in Africa. The award was presented to Bono, as well as Debt AIDS Trade Africa (which he co-founded) by President George W. Bush at the National Constitution Center, along with a $100,000 prize, to be donated to the organization, according to Bono. When the singer spoke, he had good things to say about the United States.
"Your America gave Europe the Marshall Plan. Your America gave the world the Peace Corps."America is not just a country, it's an idea, isn't it? It's a great and powerful idea. The idea that all men are created equal, that we are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights. That among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
Aww, Bono, you're making the Statue of Liberty blush.

Mr. Higher than Thou...
He has a f@#$ing opinion about every country and they are usually wrong. God I hate Bono!
Lynette says:
Is this the same Bono who places pressure on the Irish government to spend more taxpayers money on helping third world countries, but then moved U2's publishing company to the Netherlands to avoid having to pay Irish taxes. Hypocritical just like the rest of them. ( http://www.martinfrost.ws/htmlfiles/oct2006/bono_boob.html )
