After it was reported that Kirstie Alley and Jenny Craig had decided to go their separate ways, both Kirstie and the weight-loss brand have made statements indicating that Alley was the one who opted not to renew her contract after three years of acting as spokeswoman. Jenny Craig's VP of marketing, Scott Parker, said "we are sorry that she did not accept our offer."
And the reason Kirstie decided not to keep riding the Jenny Craig train is because she now wants to "develop and pilot my own weight-loss brand that I hope to launch in 2009." She expressed this in a statement, saying that her experience with the brand "was nothing short of extraordinary." In the statement, she also revealed: "I want to create something new that will help millions of people end the seemingly never ending fatty-roller coaster ride." Hard drugs seem to work for a lot of people. Maybe she could sell frozen dinners laced with Speed. At least that might be less terrifying than the prospect that she might figure out a way to incorporate Scientology into her weight-loss program.
