An online poll named Julia Roberts as the Best-Dressed Oscar winner for the dress she was wearing when she went on stage to accept her trophy for her part in "Erin Brockovich." This black and white Valentino gown helped Julia edge out Halle Berry, whose beaded dress by Badgley Mishka followed close behind Julia in the poll held by Parade.com. Both actresses won an Oscar that year, but it looks like Julia was able to squeak by in the poll as having the better dress with 25% of the votes to Halle's 24%.
But the fashionable actress is keeping it casual in this series of pictures here, which show the Oscar winner leaving the John Frieda salon with a new do from her favorite hairstylist Serge Normant. Even though it's a bit of a plain ensemble, I rather like it. I love her glasses, and the coat is a nice color--plus her hair looks good. OK, I'm probably only attracted to this look as a direct result of my affection for Liz Lemon and all things Tina Fey.

No matter what she looks like (have a sugar cube and a carrot!), she's still a nasty person and a husband stealing whore!
jerishere says:
okay - so where is Halle's dress so we can see both? Interesting...
Sarah says:
She's still a crappy actress and very difficult to look at.
Blech!

Halle Berry's dress was designed by Elie Saab the night she won.
GammaGirl says:
WHHHHHAT?!
Halle was definitely better dressed than Julia I remember being blown away by Reese Witherspoon's dress last year.
Oh, I turn to Liz Lemon for most of my life lessons too!

HEE. Nice, Jinxy.
How does this dress make her the best-dressed anything? From here it looks ugly and pointy and bare in all the wrong ways.
abbafan says:
yeah, the dress was fabulous. she looks classic and it will be remembered forever. she's already one of the great american superstars. people are just jealous. eat it, b-tches!
hahaha
i love her get up in new york. i cannot wait for the new movie.
heather woolfe says:
I love her as an actress and a person. She's one of the most normal celebrities around. She seems totally kind and sweet. I also thought her dress for her Oscar win was lovely. It's definitely a stunner and she looked so glamorous in it, an old timey moviestar. Love the new hair now.
Persistent Cat says:
I too loved that dress. I wasn't a big fan of Halle Berry's dress. Don't get me wrong, it was nice, no doubt, but I liked Julia's better, more classic.

How is that possible?

How the hell is that best dressed? That's an awful dress and I have seen many that are much nicer. It doesn't even seem to flatter her much. Halle's dress, in my opinion, was not nice either.

I don't believe any poll that comes from Parada magazine after the whole 'Has the media created Tom Cruise's image problem' poll flap. 89% said 'yes', but it turned out the majority of the votes came from the same computer.
They probably also only gave respondents closed choices, i.e. no fill-in the blank, so they were forced to pick the 'best' answer. Also, her dress was ugly. The back was the worst. It looked like a highway. Meh.
jerishere says:
I don't get it... but, Julia's dress sucks!! My gosh, are they blind for god's sake? Very weird, indeed.
