No no no no no, Jesus no! No, Jesus, no! Not Project Runway! *jumps on coffin, wailing and writhing* Sources say that, not only is ProjRun losing two of its key producers in the move to Lifetime, but it's relocating to Los Angeles! Los Angeles? Fashion capitol of the world? Not exactly. Heidi Montag's clothing line is based out of there!
Producers Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz confirmed yesterday that they will not be following one of the greatest shows of all time when it makes the jump to Lifetime from Bravo/NBC Universal. Cutforth and Lipsitz's production company is called Magical Elves. Sources say the reason why they're not following Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn to Lifetime's glorious television for women headquarters is because Magical Elves produces a ton of content for Bravo. Their other shows include Top Chef, Step It Up and Dance, Top Design, and Last Comic Standing for Bravo's big momma, NBC.
Cutforth denies it, however.
"The two decisions were made independent of each other," Cutforth said. "We have a long-standing relationship with NBC. While 'Runway' has been wonderful for us and our company, it's not a show we own or have any control over. We found ourselves at a crossroads when we found out it wasn't going to be at Bravo."
The harshest news is that the Weinstein Co. will allow ProjRun to relocate to Los Angeles to please host Heidi Klum. Klum wishes to be closer to her family. Tim Gunn's on board, but Nina Garcia and Michael Kors haven't signed on yet, or been asked to. Seriously, this is the death knell of the show. Los Angeles? Fake tans and leggings? Please, God, just end it now.
