Joaquin Phoenix Has The Flu

Joaquin Phoenix was forced to miss the premiere of his new film Two Lovers at the Cannes Film Festival. He was hospitalized due to a nasty case of stomach flu. That's some kind of flu!

Phoenix said that he was "very disappointed" that he couldn't attend the premiere in an e-mail that was read to the assembled masses at a press conference. The director, James Gray, stated that Phoenix wanted to attend but doctors insisted on hospitalizing him. He's grouchy anyway, so this probably saved everyone from having to look at his sour puss.

Fellow bitter bunny and Two Lovers co-star Gwyneth Paltrow obviously didn't like all the attention Joaquin was receiving. She merely said "he's all right" when asked about Phoenix's condition. It's not always about you, Gwyn!
