What is the deal with these random organizations giving out good mother awards to random celebrities? (And why am I talking like Jerry Seinfeld?) The criteria seems to be that a person has been interviewed by Entertainment Tonight a few times and hasn't yet thrown their child out of a moving car. Ta-da! That makes you a good mother. Hmm, wouldn't a better reward for being a "good mother" be having a well-adjusted adult? Well, I guess that's no comparison to a plaque you can hang up next to your daughter's first Penthouse spread.
Nicole Richie was recently awarded a Golden Pacifier Award from Babytalk Magazine. Her baby is a whopping six months old and they're already deeming her parenting skills a success, which sounds a bit premature to me. These groups that insist on getting publicity by handing out these awards to the most readily available bottom-tier celebrity, like the one that recently awarded Dina Lohan for not drowning her babies in the tub when they were little, need to consider whether or not it's worth it to completely and utterly destroy their credibility.
Oh that's rich--I just tried to dog someone else for not having "credibility." Ha!
