Jessica Simpson will be on hand for the Country Music Association (CMA) Festival this weeked in Nashville. She's pushing her new country music schtick, with an album debuting in the fall. Did Jewel successfully pull this off, as well? Is that why she's involved in all the country stuff lately?
Other artists who will be performing at one one of the biggest events of the year for country music are Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts, Kellie Pickler, Dwight Yoakam, Trace Adkins, Faith Hill, and Billy Ray Cyrus.
I am not a country music fan, so my apologies to anyone who is if I speak out of turn. Hit me with your doublewide or whatever.
Country music fans have been pouring into the city since Monday, but the festival officially began yesterday with a concert featuring Phil Vassar, Jo Dee Messina, Jason Michael Carroll, Luke Bryan and Chuck Wicks. Are they any good?
I'm dying to see what their reception of Jessica is. Though she did just break a chart record with highest debuting country single by a solo artist. At #41. Someone else had really set the bar there.

stolidog says:
we need a new music genre. I nominate disco-country.
Centurian says:
Honey, she has got a lot of veteran and young female country singers out competing in the music market unwilling to let her entirely benefit or use them to make herself a star. Jessica Simpson freaked while performing "9 to 5" in tribute to Ms. Dolly Parton at the Kennedy Center Honors for major attention, and that is a bad blood spilled example, by her own mother chastising her for running around bonking men rather than practice for this prestigious event.. no veteran singer will ever forget.. ya know what I mean?
devil says:
If the country music industry tolerated Shania Twain (a Canadian, middle-aged version of Britney Spears), then Jessica Simpson should barely blip their radar.
Really, what can they protest about her? That she isn't slutty enough? Obviously, musical talent isn't all that important in country music anymore (and hasn't been in a very long time).
stolidog says:
Centurian, no, i don't know what ya mean
whatever says:
She has tried everything else so this is the last place to go. Her dad will be shoving her down everyones throat. Her single debuted high because people were interested to see is it any good. My vote is just average. If that is the best on the CD,
she has a hard line to tow.
sheryl says:
Firstly, I do love some country music...secondly, I'm far from a double-wide dweller, albeit in Nashville country...thirdly, I love music from all genre's (except hip hop and rap...never, never, never) and listen to all kinds...and I have to say that not only is country suffering a drought of talent, but so is pop and rock. Or perhaps I'm just too nostalgic for the 70s/80s/90s.
And please tell me we aren't going to start seeing Jessica in cowboy hats being papped at the Starbucks in Green Hills? If there is a God...
