On Friday night, ABC’s 20/20 program featured Paige Laurie in a story about cheating on college campuses. 20/20 interviewed Laurie’s former college roommate, Elena Martinez, who said she was paid $20,000 over 3 1/2 years to write papers and complete other assignments for Laurie.
According to ABC News, Laurie paid her roommate to do homework and to write papers that Laurie turned in as her own efforts. The roommate says that she used Laurie's computer password to turn in much of the schoolwork. The roommate used the password as an ABC News reporter watched, to prove she had access to Laurie's computer code.Paige Laurie, recently had a sports stadium at a major university named in her honor. Laurie's parents donated money to the school and wanted it named for their daughter. I'm sure there are a few people not too happy about this little scandal.ABC News also had video of Laurie out partying, on the eve of her final exams. She graduated, and recently was in Columbia, Missouri to dedicate the new basketball arena named after her. [KSDK]

Apparently its the University of Missouri. I have a friend who played football there. He's pissed off. Mizzou has a great athletic tradition, and across the country arenas and fields and stadiums are named after great athletes who brought prestige and honor and legacy to the school's name.
He said he'd 'never step on the court of a stadium named after some rich-bich-poor-man's Paris Hilton.'
On another note, however, Nikki makes a good point, as basketball players that were friends of mine at the california school I went to would basically have their papers written by their 'TUTORS'.

Okay so the girl cheated and it is wrong, very wrong. Her parents although never making much of a formal statment have done the right thing and gave up the naming rights for the arena. It must be difficult having to be in the public view with your family's dirty laundry. I wouldn't fair so well under that kind of scrutiny. But lets all try and remember the time of year it is and that we have many service men that are fighting for our rights and freedom as Americans that won't be home for the holidays with their families and even many more that will not be returning home at all. Lets keep things in perspective and give of ourselves to helping those that need help and leave the pettiness of other's messy lives where it belongs. Forgotten.

She didn't even GO to MU, she just was the pass around sex toy of MU guys while she was in high school at Rockbridge (In Columbia, where MU is located). That and doing alot of coke got her a stadium named after her, and a trip to USC to study "filmmaking". She was a bitch at 18, and is probably still a bitch, but at least MU fans don't have to see her name on that damn stadium anymore. I just remember seeing her in clubs as a high schooler, hooking up with whoever, drunk off her ass (and 16 to 18), dancing like a slut on the bar at the Vu'......I'm sure Daddy and the MU faithful would've been proud to have their stadium named after her.

As an heiress myself, I would like to point out that although one "rich bitch" may have spent liberal amounts on conning the USC education system, there is no need for a sweeping condemnation of all trust fund babies. While some admittedly exploit the power of their parents' platinums, others take pride in forging their own way through life with minimal reliance on Mum and Daddy. Although admittedly an advantage, excessive wealth does not necessarily translate to spoiled princess behaviour. xx

Since Laurie was a Cinema Major at SC, maybe Elena could film a nice movie on U.S. Corporations and child labor in Asia. She happens to have served in the military industrial complex in between writting college papers for the lazy rich. I am sure Elena would be more than qualified.

I went to school with paige for the first 2 years of elementry, junior high, and then high school. She was a curse to the schools that not many (except those who sucked up to her) cared to have around. Some never change. I wasn't suprised to hear about this scandle, she's always been a very dependent person. Infact, maybe they should do an investigation on her junior high and high school years, I can remember her hanging around a couple of smart people then as well.
Either way, I hope this has taught paige a valuable lesson... And I hope she doesn't become a media icon after this, that's all Paige needs is more attention.
