Firs of all you said it..."the richest nation on the planet" and where do our TAXES goes? Don't we have any program solely just for the needy or homeless?
Yes..this is AMERICA the land of opportunity and if it's "USE" wisely anybody can use the resources to come out on TOP (not literally) to advance one self.
I'm not saying don't help the one's who need it...IMO, I think it's better to help them to educate them how get a JOB and they might find it very rewarding.
