He's gay.. and needs to assert his false heterosexual veneer again. She's young..hasn't done much since Dawson's Creek. They both have major movies coming out. Her going along with this charade will boost her visibility and give her career the velocity it's been missing. This whole thing is a PR stunt for both (but he's bouncing off the walls, while she looks embarrassed).
It reminds me how Carrie Fisher her parent's marriage: "Little more than a press release"
