"We know that people who do avoid drugs and alcohol are more likely to be able to get a job," she said in an interview with American Urban Radio Network."We want young people to avoid gangs. And we know that if they're not tattooed with gang tattoos, they're more likely to be employable," Bush said.

If only her husband weren't an alcoholic and a former cocaine user, her comments would be true.
Oh well. I still love Laura Bush. She could marry a male whore and still be tremendously classier and respected than her predecessor.

Sorry, but Laura Bush is the Stepford wife to beat all Stepford wives. I can't trust anything she says, because all her dialogue comes from an embedded microchip behind her slightly wonky eye.

This is the kind of response/comment I'd expect from a upper-class, totally out of touch with reality white BITCH.
Believe me, this is EXACTLY the way she thinks, she is so fucked 100 black men could fuck her for weeks on end, and at the end of that ordeal she will be polite, wave off any questions and simply have a prepared statment saying "although she would never wish her experience on anyone, she considers what happened a learning experience."
I've got the burlap sack to capture her stupid ass, all I need is a few good well-endowed black men willing to repeatedly rape an older white woman for a "learning experience."
Any takers?

I find it amusing that people like you often make the Republicans=poor white trash analogy. Yet it's statistically shown that the higher income and more education one possesses, the more likely he/she is to be a Republican. And on the same note, the underprivileged and the uneducated tend to be Democratic. Any political science class will substantiate this.
By the way, I drive a BMW, and I'm Republican. I fail to see how the manufacturer of your car relates to your political preference, but then again, I'm not the one who brought it up.
bee says:
Actually, no. The more education you have, the more likely you are to be a democrat. There's a certain income bracket where people are more likely to be republicans, I think between 400,000 and a few million. Not positive though. But the funny thing is that people who are really really wealthy ie. the Bill Gates and Oprahs of the world are way more likely to be democrats.
Thaddeus van Worthingheimer
A survey by the National Organization for Research at the University of Chicago has stated since 1972 that the average Republican has one full year more education than the average Democrat. Two years ago (if I can recall the date correctly) a Gallup poll concluded that as one's IQ increases, the higher probability that person will have right leaning tendencies. Of course, there's the old "What about all the liberals in academia?" standby Democrats love to use. Where are most professors from? Large cities. Large cities are statistically Democratic, common sense tells us that.
Common sense also tells us upper-middle, the wealthy, and the super wealthy tend to be Republicans. I'll give you the Oprah Winfrey example, and even the Bill Gates one to a certain extent. But may I point out that Bill Gates was a George W. Bush campaign supporter in 2004. And he was also a John McCain campaign supporter that same year.

casiobeat says:
Thaddeus, what on earth are you trying to say? That some random study proves that Republicans are smarter than Democrats? It's a laughable argument to say the least, and seems fairly desperate.
I can tell you as someone in their 30s that I am a very proud progressive, have an IQ of 160, and graduated from an Ivy League law school. I grew up in upstate rural NY with little money and my parents were immigrants.
My friends all have their Masters or Doctorates, and they are all left-leaning individuals. We are also scattered about the country - rural, suburban, and urban areas. There's one snapshot for your "study".
Your logic is a bit strange - whether you live in a city or the suburbs or a rural area - intelligence is intelligence. (Although I believe that intelligence runs in many forms - emotional, artisitic, book-smart, etc. - and therefore I despise any emphasis of IQ tests as a measure). I'm not sure what you are trying to do with the "Democrats are from cities" argument. How does that mitigate the notion of "liberal academia?"
Also, I'm not sure why you throw out two random celebrities when talking about how Republicans are mostly upper-class and upper middle-class. First off, we don't know how Oprah votes. She has never come public with that. Secondly, if she is a Democrat, she's one person! Your list is kinda lame - I mean, you even had to throw in a disclaimer for Bill Gates viting Republican.
And I'm not asking for a list of celebrities who vote Democrat. Whatever celebrities you throw out doesn't hide the fact that the poor are not embraced by Bush administration. Just look at the record - the tax cuts to the wealthy, Katrina, etc. The record is abominable.
GirlyGirl says:
I was going to write that Laura Bush makes me want to smoke crack, join a gang (of white, upper middle class women who terrorize our local Talbots) and get a tattoo on my forehead...
But then I read casiobeat.
Um, will you marry me? I love you. You rock. I'll bring you before dinner cocktails, I vote Democrat, and I'm good in bed. The rest is unimportant... :-)

Thaddeus van Worthingheimer
I'm giving examples of solid studies and statistics in my conclusion that Republicans are smarter than Democrats. The statement of "all my friends have masters degress and they're democrats", no matter how true it may be, does not prove that the average Democrat is smarter than the average Republican. And frankly, such a statement seems to be made in a hasty attempt at discreditation of the proven Republican superiority to Democrats.
I never made any connection between intelligence and location. I never even made a "Democrats are from big cities" connection. If you'll note, I stated that most college professors are from large cities. Large cities are historically Democratic. Again, this can be backed up by looking at election results by cities for the past 50 years. You can believe any thing you want when it comes to cities and Democrats, but I must ask that you refrain from distorting what I have previously written.
I didn't "throw out" two random celebrities. Again, if you will take the time to read comments before you post, you'll note that 'Bee' stated "the Bill Gates and Oprahs of the world are way more likely to be democrats." By looking at NewsMeat.com, you can view Bill Gates's political contributions by candidate and/or party. You'll note that he has contributed nearly 45% more to Republican candidates than Democratic candidates.
And finally, of course the poor aren't embraced by the Bush administration. We're Republicans. We don't deal with the poor. Maybe that makes us bad people, but that's just how we are. I guess we can chalk it up to that whole 'have and the have nots' thing.
KittyLiterati
Sigh. Democrats and Republicans will use any excuse to prove who's more right (or left).
