Isn't it about time that Pete Doherty does either some hard time, or be carted off to an extended (six months or more) stint at rehab. Otherwise this man is going to wind up dead. His vow of starting a "drug free life" really hasn't been going that well.

Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty has been arrested on suspicion of stealing a car and possessing class A drugs. Mr Doherty, 26, and two men from Dundee - aged 18 and 19 - were detained by police in Birmingham on Monday evening.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said all three had been released on police bail "pending further enquiries". The singer, whose band's hits include Albion, recently received a 12-month community service order after pleading guilty to drug possession.

He was ordered to attend a drug rehabilitation programme and warned he could face prison if he broke his community service order.

He subsequently vowed to "start a drug-free life" and told Channel 4 News that he was "not that much of a junkie anyway".

First off all, I have to say that I'm in love. No, not with Brent, with Michael. He's just plain edible. Anyway, moving on here.

Let's give a few tips to the future contestants of The Apprentice. There are four basic rules that you have to remember in the boardroom.

1. Watch out for Carolyn. She's one tough cookie, and she's especially tough on the women in the boardroom.
2. Come to the boardroom prepared. On this weeks episode, she grilled Summer as to what she actually did for her team. “What did you contribute to this team? It’s the third time I asked,” she said, clearly exasperated. Summer couldn't answer the question.
3. Never interrupt The Donald. Especially when he's railing on someone other than yourself. It's what got Summer fired.
4. It's always a mistake to bring someone into the boardroom, who contributed quite a bit to the team, just because they criticized your management technique. Mensa member Tarek made this mistake, and it almost got him fired.

Sean Combs was among the many celebrities enjoying the fruits of Carnival in Rio De Janerio. It looks as if P Diddy was doing a little shopping during Carnival as well. Rumor has it that he was in the company of a few prostitutes.

The rap impresario is in Brazil, enjoying Carnival, where he was spotted by reporters slipping into a hot spot known for its low-priced call girls, reports our source in Rio.

“The name of the place is ‘Help’ and the girls there are supposed to be the cheapest prostitutes in the city,” says the source. “According to the local press he was annoyed when he saw the photographers and arranged to get in through the garage.”

Diddy couldn’t be reached for comment, but a well-placed source says, “It’s the most popular club in Rio. Diddy was with his girl Kim all night at the nightclub. So if there were prostitutes he wouldn’t know.”

Looking to expand the Beckham empire, Victoria Beckham is set to launch her own line of cosmetics and a perfume. We were wondering how long it would take the former Spice Girl to move beyond jeans. As long as she leaves the singing behind, well all be better off.

Victoria Beckham is taking on the cosmetics giants and launching her own range of make-up - meaning we'll all be able to preen ourselves with Posh products.

A source close to Vic, 31, tells us: "It's universally acknowledged that Victoria knows her stuff when it comes to fashion and beauty and she's done work with cosmetics brands in the Far East for years.

"People are always asking her how she manages to look so good despite being manically busy, so it makes sense for her to design her own range."

The collection - which is expected to be sold in high-end department stores - is being launched as part of Victoria and David's multi-million pound deal with cosmetics giant Coty. David has already released a best-selling aftershave, Instinct, and Victoria is set to enjoy the sweet smell of success when she launches her own fragrance later this year, too.

Not that Glitter would have been a masterpiece without Ms. Carey, but you get our point. Mariah Carey is returning to acting. Brace yourselves.

The songbird, 35, is set to star in an independently produced drama titled Tennessee, to be shot in New Mexico and Tennessee this spring, reports Variety.

"I never saw Glitter, but I liked her work in the other film," says Tennessee (and Monster's Ball) producer Lee Daniels, referring to Carey's 2002 movie WiseGirls.

Daniels also tells the trade paper that he was swayed to cast Carey after watching her video for the Grammy-winning "The Emancipation of Mimi."

In Tennessee, Carey plays a waitress who journeys with her two brothers to find their estranged father – and get him to help save their younger brother, who has leukemia.

"Because this character is interracial and struggles with all sorts of issues because of that, I thought she was perfect," says Daniels.

Mmm. So because Mariah is of mixed-race she'd be perfect for the part. It seems like someone wanted a "name" for his film, because I'm sure there are many more qualified actresses who could draw from that same experience.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are frolicking in Tahiti (she's sure doing a lot of traveling in her seventh or eighth month of pregnancy). Back home, the director of Katie's film, Thank You For Smoking, with the lost sex scene at Sundance, is happy that the sex scene disappeared. Was it that bad? No, he's happy about the publicity for the film that occurred as a result of the missing scene.

Jason Reitman isn't mad at the projectionist he said accidentally eliminated Katie Holmes' sex scene from a screening of "Thank You For Smoking." In fact, he joked that he deserves a raise.

Reitman said the mysterious disappearance during the Sundance Film Festival has been great publicity for the movie. He also understands why some people prefer to think Tom Cruise ordered him to cut the scene. Reitman said the problem with the term "projection error is that it's the truth but it sounds like a lie."

He said it's like "wardrobe malfunction." The movie, sex scene and all, opens March 17.
