How incredibly sad. She died late Monday night. She is survived by her and Christopher Reeve's 13-year-old son, Will.
Dana Reeve, the widow of Christopher Reeve who worked tirelessly with her husband to improve treatment for spinal-cord injuries, has died of lung cancer. She was 44.Reeve, a nonsmoker, announced her cancer battle last August, just 10 months after losing her husband. But she seemed to be making progress in her battle against the disease. Reeve was optimistic during one of her last public appearances in November, at a fund-raising gala in New York for the Christopher Reeve Foundation.

She truely was the vision of how to love someone. What an amazing lady, and I'm very sad to have lost such a wonderful person. I hope that she and Chris will be forever reunited where ever they are.
R.I.P Dana, we will always remember you and Christopher for the passion you showed for the world and for each other.

Who will take care of their son?? I feel so bad for him.
Stephen says:
My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends. What an amazing person who managed to handle all the sadness set upon her...
RIP

Dana Reeve was such a dedicated wife. The tragedy of life just sucks. She buries her husband after YEARS of caring for him, just to find out MONTHS later that she has cancer.
The son, after losing a father less than two years ago, now loses his mother. He is only a teenager. I lost both parents at 39, I'm grown, and I feel like an orphan. This poor kid IS AN ORPHAN.
What is it all about :-(
ThrillKill says:
Man, that sucks! Sucks 40 times as much since whe was a non-smoker... genetics can be a fucking bitch! She was a picture of strength, support, and even leadership through the therapy and activism that Chris fought through. I hope they find peace together in he great here-after.
She is survived by her father, so maybe Will will be going to live with him or his aunts. I hope that Will can take some comfort in the fact that both his parents were strong beyond what any normal person would have to endure.
Cynthia says:
wow. Just another instance of life not being fair. Two people, stricken with such tragedy, yet who always managed to handle things in such an honorable way are now gone, making an orphan of their young son. And we are still left with all of the disgusting, wretched Hollywood trash that we couldn't get rid of if we tried....
s says:
that's truly sad. she was a great spokesperson for spinal injuries, and from all accounts was a great mother and wife. it looks like her son has inherited much of his mother's grace and father's strength, and i'm sure he'll continue to make them proud.

And Paris Hilton is still alive.

Thats horrible. Loosing both parents in such a short time. No one especially a 13 year old should have to go through that I really pray and hope hes gonna be ok.

So sad. I know Christopher Reeves had two adult children (son/daughter), and maybe they're going to take care of their brother. So sad and bittersweet in that "at least they left a legacy. They made a difference with the time they had, and set so many good things in motion for the future in a postive way"
Jonrah says:
I was really shocked and saddened to hear this news! It is so unfortunate that this was her fate! Her and her husband showed great courage and strength during their ordeal. It makes some wonder why God would let this happen to such great people. I believe he gave them these struggles because he knew they had the character to handle them. We could all learn from their example and it should all make us realize just how precious life is! We should be grateful for all we have!

Wow, this is just too sad.
Her grace, bravey and committment to her marriage awed and inspired many, including a cynic like me.
Mariana says:
How awful. I echo pretty much what's been said above.
I wish the best for their son. So much tragedy and loss to encounter at such a young age. I hope he has a good support system with his family.
Melody says:
Poor little guy... He has lost both parents. I can't even imagine.

Truly an admirable woman of faith and courage, rarely seen among those who live the glitzy and glamorous world of showbiz and fame and riches.
Tested not ony in her husband's battle but also in her own battle that came so soon afterwards.
Seeing her on Oprah, one wouldn't surmise that she was living on borrowed time. Still held her head up high, reaching out to people even during her own time of need. Godspeed Dana!
