Hopefully you've had some time to digest the breakup of the marriage of America's sweethearts, Kimora Lee Simmons and Russell Simmons. It's a tough one to swallow, especially since everyone loved them together. Not.
When Page Six called Russell two weeks ago to check out rumors of an imminent split, he quashed the story, saying, "We've been on the rocks for 15 years." Simmons says he expects Kimora to be reasonable when it comes to splitting up their fashion-jewelry-media empire: "Not in a million years will we fight over money." If the couple doesn't fight over money, I'll be more than shocked.
The spouses aren't technically separated. They're under the same roof, although living in isolated wings of their 10-bedroom palace in Saddle River. "Their bedrooms are so far apart, they never saw each other anyway," said an insider.
Russell probably wanted to forestall the announcement of their marital meltdown until he could line up a new love interest, Denise Vasi, a cinnamon-skinned beauty whose photos can be viewed on IDModels.com. Russell showed off his new honey Thursday night at the G-Spa club in the Hotel Gansevoort and at the "Coke Side of Life" launch party at Capitale. Meanwhile, Kimora was spotted at Scores West partying with Knick Stephon Marbury until 4:30 a.m. last week.
We're told Kimora was the one pushing for a divorce. "Baby Phat is now making more money than Phat Farm," said our source. "She had the talk show. She had the magazine profiles. She's bigger than Russell now. She doesn't need him anymore."
The 6-foot beauty was a 17-year-old fashion model from St. Louis when Russell, who grew up in Queens, spotted her on the catwalk. Now she's the world's biggest customer of Louis Vuitton bags and has a collection of huge diamonds. ReganBooks published her "Fabulosity" last month. "The Kimora Lee Simmons Show" - which chronicles her fabulous life as a working mother - debuted this month on VH1.
I wonder how what kind of Fabulosity she'll be able find in the divorce. Cold hard cash perhaps?

CORRECTION: The photo posted earlier of "Denise Vasi" was not Denise Vasi, but of model Maria Negron. We regret the error.

I had no idea people raced to be the first one to comment on here .. hmm :/
Anyway I have to say I was disappointed to hear they split up. There were together for so long and seemed to be happy. I'm sad to hear they broke up and I wish them the best of luck.

Yep, they race to say "I'm first!!!" then say nothing (major eyeroll).
Anyway, I saw this coming. All she does is spend money, thinks she's Queen shit (she's not). Serves her right.

Was Kimora Lee always this horrifyingly ugly or did she have plastic surgery to achieve her stomach-turning look? Anybody know? How the hell could she have been a fashion model, she's a brown bagger.

It sort of sad, but Russel Simmons must like em young. He's 48 years old going out with a 23 year old. Kimora is only 30-(so she says)But looks almost 40. ANyway, it's kind of sick she married that man at 17. Both of them sound like disgusting people. I feel bad for their children.

'Till death do us part'? I don't think so. 'Till I don't need you anymore' is more like it.
It's kind of sad, I agree, since they almost made me believe that people with buckets of many CAN be happilly married and being flashy can actually work for someone...not.
Shane says:
I thought their marriage might last because she ran the show. Russell acted very nonchalant when they were together. You could tell that she wore the pants in the relationship.
No doubt that Kimora is pushing for the divorce and wants out. He let her have whatever she wanted. She had to get bored at some point.
kid bachelor says:
firstly, too many women don't know what they want, so if a man is stupid enought to let his woman 'run the show' then the couple are doomed. Secondly, appearances can be deceiving, letting your wife look powerful in public helps combat gender discrimination by allowing her to feed off your power. Example, you can make almost any woman a star by simply allowing her to be seen in public with a powerful man, Russell's new girlfriend is a more than perfect example. Being in Russell's presence boosted both women to a league they probably would never have achieved on their own. Of course, that's in public, in private, a smart woman would realize who the boss truly is, a man doesnt get rich and powerful letting his woman push him around. As a matter of fact, now Russell's proven he can 'make' a woman, every woman will break her neck for a piece of him, who really wants Kimora ? maybe a poor guy like me, but rich men have waaaaaaayyyyyy too many options to be bother with her. Except of course, a guy with no game who actually idolizes the next man's leftovers. Famous men almost never date a woman who publicly dated another famous man, that's 'extremely sloppy seconds' or 'sucker bait'. Politics aside, I am though, very unhappy to see anyone divorce, especially if they have kids. I am not married and will never be until I meet a woman with 'wife skills' which too many american women don't have. http://www.nomarriage.com/why_foreign_women_are_better.html I always suspected the women i met were a bit unhinged, and now this proves it, I'm not crazy, I'm too smart!
Rumor says:
Hey bachelor man, what's wrong with American women? And what are you talking about with "wife skills?" Cooking, cleaning, good skills in the bedroom? What?
What are YOU bringing to the table? That is the question. If you are looking for what a woman can do for you, you're going to be doomed to singlehood unless you get unusually lucky. That's what is wrong with relationships today. People need to develop a "selfless" spirit. First, you must be good and reliable man(not a cheater, or she's going to hold back for lack of trust). Fall madly in love (it's a good thing to have some fire) with a good person (values and convictions), and then give, give give. If she's a good woman, you're going to get something in return.
Men seem to have a hard time seeing something through to the end. I know a woman who married a man with a nasty spirit. He was so insecure and negative. Bad childhood. But she was strong and positive, so she stood up to his verbal attacks, and still gave him so much love and validation. He was the love of her life. They are solidly married and happy nearly 20 years now, and I have no doubt they'll grow old and gray together.
Rumor says:
Bachelor Man, I also wanted to add, regarding the above couple, that he was a man who really had nothing before meeting his wife. She just really, really loved him and was strong. He changed into a different person.
