New York:
Friday: Take a chance and witness the miracle of childbirth from a new perspective when the Britney Spears-inspired “Monument to Pro-Life” is finally unveiled. Sculptor Daniel Edwards will be in attendance for the opening night event, so try and attend. (He’ll be very eager to answer questions about his sanity, I’m sure.) [Calpa Kesting]
Saturday: This month, Love Story’s Ali MacGraw and ER’s Julianna Margulies join the ever-growing list of “celebrities” on Broadway with their roles in the adaptation of the cult film Festen. (Warning: the website’s a tad creepy.) Evidently being on stage means never having to say you’re sorry, too. [Festen on Broadway]
Sunday: The 2006 Gen Art Film Festival is in full force tonight. Not only is it premiering the sure to be fantastic Shut Up and Sing, but director Bruce Leddy and several members of the cast, including SNL’s Molly Shannon will be on hand at the event. Did I mention that there’s an after-party? Gen Art is almost too good to be true. [Gen Art Film Festival]
What to do this weekend in Chicago and New York City, after the jump.
Chicago:
Friday: Here’s the perfect event for those of you desperate to become a better flirt. (Seriously.) Allure Seminars is currently offering weekly tours of Chicago that aim to teach you a little bit about flirting, too. Flirts of all levels are welcome… results not exactly guaranteed. [Allure Seminars]
Saturday: Feeling like a smart consumer? The Trunk Show for the highly influential Montreal-based designer Marie Saint Pierre takes place this afternoon at Only She boutique. Saint Pierre’s last Chicago event drew quite a crowd, and it only takes one look at her collection to understand why. [Only She]
Sunday: Did you somehow miss out on 2005’s Roll Bounce? If so, grab your kneepads and head on over to the Lynwood Sports Center for a season-opening roller derby event. The movie was actually filmed at this location or something. I don’t know. It’s a slow day. [Skate Lynwood]
Los Angeles:
Friday: Who couldn’t use some more Friends with Money? Watch real-life Friends Jennifer Aniston and Catherine Keener star in Aniston’s most promising attempt as of late. Limited engagements begin today in New York and LA, so be among the first to see how little old Jen does. [Moviefone]
Saturday: Help support The Children Affected by AIDS Foundation as Doris Roberts’ hosts their fourth annual “A Night of Comedy”, starring Ray Romano and The King of Queen’s Kevin James. Kathy Griffin will be on-hand as well, but keep in mind: it’s for a good cause! [CAF]
Sunday: The City of Lights, City of Angels Film Festival winds down this afternoon in LA. Thankfully, organizers have left the best for last, offering a free screening of the film that won this year’s Audience Choice Award at 4:00PM. It’s going to be so good that it might just make up for the fact that you missed the rest of the week’s events. [ColCoa]
