For all you hopeful fashion writers out there who believe there are things to write that are more worthwhile than describing the hot colors for spring, here’s a bit of inspiration. Washington Post fashion editor Robin Givhan just received the Pulitzer prize for criticism, the first person in fashion to receive the award since the category was first formed in 1970. In the committee’s words, her "witty, closely observed essays that transform fashion criticism into cultural criticism." How many generic Vogue and Harper’s articles on Dressing Your Age can lay claim to that?
If you haven’t read her, it’s worth the effort. You might disagree with me and just call her plain snarky, but one thing’s for sure. You’ll still feel a lot better about your intellect than you will after going through a heap of Conde Nast glossies.

Good for her! I've been a fan for a while now.
