Madonna's A Moneymaker

Madonna W Magazine

The woman does have staying power, I'll give her that. Madonna's Confessions On A Dancefloor tour is set to be the most lucrative tour by female performer ever. However, if you're a Madonna fan living somewhere other than North America, Europe and Japan, you're pretty much out of luck.

The Confessions On A Dancefloor tour, which includes 54 dates in three months, is about half the size of global tours mounted by bands such as U2 and the Rolling Stones. But music industry experts believe that Madonna's tour, which starts in Los Angeles at the end of this month, will earn more than £100 million and see her topple Cher - whose recent two-year tour made £90 million - as the female artist whose tour raises the largest amount of money.

Madonna's shows are expected to earn more because of high ticket prices - British fans will pay between £80 and £170 - and restricted appearances, to keep down touring costs. Aside from two dates in Japan, the tour will be confined to America and Europe. The strategy has provoked criticism, not least from Australian fans, who believe that they have been unfairly excluded.

In the first four days of ticket sales, the singer sold out 28 shows - in New York, Paris, London, Los Angeles, Chicago and Miami.

What does it say about Madonna's steroid-pumped body that now there are no naked men in her photo shoots, just an uninterested horse?

Madonna probably is a bad mother. Anyone who's that self-involved couldn't have much left over for anyone else, including her own children.

I loved Madonna in the 80's when she was starting out. She had an edge that slowly dulled over the years to play to a "mass" audience. While she has made it to the top of pop culture, she seems like a woman who will never have true happiness.

It's going to be fun to see how her kids turn out. Lola will certainly be hell-on-wheels at some point. Can't wait to see cosmic karma play it's game on her.

Madonna should shut down all "public" operations at 50. She's still beautiful and her public image would be frozen in time.

I think she could learn a great deal from some of the greatest stars of our time. Regretfully, Liz Taylor didn't have it in her to go out on top of her beauty.

I can't believe I actually agree with this whore for once. You're right Madonna, you ARE a crap mother! And you're not British so quit talking like you are.

You're all Bitter Betty's! She just made the best pop album of the year at 47!

Hmm. OK. You want to get the kids in bed, like a good mom. Well, with an estate numbering in the fucking zillions, I'm thinking you could afford to do just that, every single night, if you wanted.

"i dont know, but somebody told me if you keep on dancing you would never grow old!

Tine-

Given the state of Pop music over the past several years, that's not saying much. Go a bit deeper if you want to find something to make her relevant.

To say that Madonna should quite while she's at the top and by 50 is ageist and sad. Madonna is in the best shape of her life and she has created one of her best albums at 47. She has paved the way for women in the music industry and now she is redefining what it is to be in your 40s/50s and she will continue to break down barriers.

And who cares if she speaks with a British accent. The woman is married to a Brit, she has two homes in England and she lives there most of her time. Anyone who has lived in England more than a year will tell you that you start picking up the accent. The same is true if you surround yourself with people from the South.

And the comment about her "steroid-pumped body"...it's called Ashtanga Yoga. You should try it.

And what if she took the suggestion of posing provocatively with naked men at her age no less? She'd still get shit for it.

The woman can't win after all these years!

"Madonna is in the best shape of her life and she has created one of her best albums at 47."

If her best music was so great, then she wouldn't need to use her body to sell them.

And no, it is not sexist and ageist to point this stuff out. Because obviously Madonna is desperate not to let anything sag, lest it kill her career (does that make her sexist and ageist too?).

Didn't Madonna recently share a question Lola had for her, "Mommy people say you are gay because you kissed Britney Spears." Will the question now be, "Mom did you really have sex w/ a horse?"

These pics are waaaayyyy too suggestively uncomfortable for me.

Looks like Madonna is swinging back to her kinky roots...I'm just surprised that its w/in the same year that she had the lady of the manor piece w/ her in her lovely tea dresses.

"Madonna probably is a bad mother. Anyone who's that self-involved couldn't have much left over for anyone else, including her own children."

This comment would NEVER be made about a man. He would just have a successful career.

Male rock stars like Keith Richards and Ozzie have spent the best part of their lives in a drug-induced daze, but no-one ever criticises their parenting skills.

Looks like Madonna is going to replace Catherine-the-Great as the punchline to that old joke about female "equestrians”...

Ok Sarah -

The album created her 11th number one single in the UK, her 41st Top 40 US hit, went number one in over 40 countries, has spawned 2 number one videos so far on MTV, put her at number 5 in the top selling artists of all time, oh and she just took over the Coachella Music Fest a few weekends ago - even the hipsters scampered to get a glimpse - I guess maybe I was wrong about calling her "pop" she tranceded all music that night...none of that is probably relevant either huh? Should I go on!?

Cheers -

All you Madonna haters must just be jealous. Why did you read the article anyway. She is the most friven artist of our time. She is producing great music at 47 and looks better than girls half her age! To the person who commented on steriod usage, Madonna is to successfull to use any kind of drug! She has made a name for herself by always being one step ahead and women should respect her for opening the door to being who you want and being proud. She will break records with her tour this year and she will laugh all the way to the bank ya'll post nasty messages about her and wonder why you cant look like that at 50.

Madonna personifies hedonism and is the biggest publicity whore on the planet...well...nothing can help her fuggly mug...the body is just to distract from her ripped face but seriously the horse photos is one of her relatives...the resemblance is in the mouth...oh and all of the fans on her are Brits of course...she is one of the few americans they worship...she willl die with a british title no doubt...hey if the brits are so keen on our trash they should take bitchy ritchies spawn aka britney spears too...we could do without another no talent megalomaniac...

I read a great article recently about Madonna. It was in context to her Coachella performance. The writer asked a bunch of people if they were going to go to the Sahara Tent to see Madonna and all he got was either unqualified "hell yes" or "god no." Nothing in between. Even with such diverse opinions, around half of the 60,000 people who were at Coachella crowded in or around the Sahara tent to see her.

Madonna has either been a "hell yes" or a "god no" for ages. You either love her or hate her... and i am sure that is exactly what she wants. myself, I love her... I think she is extremely undervalued as a musical innovator. many, obviously, disagree. but, do you really think we'll be talking about Britney or Christina when they are 47? Do you think their tours will be selling out in hours? (The Confessions tour is expected to be the top grossing tour by a female artist... ever).

Calling her "fug" isn't going to change the fact that, to about half the US and more than half the rest of the world... she is uniformally accepted as the definition of fabulous. you can't argue with numbers.. she is one of the top 5 selling artists EVER!

GET OVER IT!
