she's sort of fat!

May 10, 2006 7:35 AM

why the hell is her boob shiney?

May 10, 2006 8:12 AM

I think she's kinda cute! She's a normal sized, healthy girl.

May 10, 2006 8:13 AM

she has totally got the weirdest boobs on tv.

May 10, 2006 8:18 AM

i think the shiney boob was caused by the wrong bra

May 10, 2006 8:30 AM

She'll be anorexic by next year a la Nicole Ritchie.

May 10, 2006 8:45 AM

I love her! She's healthy, cute and funny.

May 10, 2006 9:17 AM

I hate to be mean, but she is a little chubby and while her body may be normal by America's standards, she is not up to par in Hollywood.

I know people are going to freak on me for saying this, but I think we have just come to accept chubby as being "normal" nowadays and I can honestly say without shame that I would consider her chubby if I passed her on the street. Whether we want to accept it or not first impressions do matter and society will continue to judge people based on them. Maybe that makes me uber-shallow, but I'm not afraid to say it. And no this does not mean I condone eating disorders. And I'm also not saying I'm perfect....far from it. I'm sure people judge me too based on my appearance.

May 10, 2006 9:32 AM

She's got man-hands a quarterback's shoulders. Damn. I met her husband (he's the frontman for a rock band) - nice guy (even perkier than she is - I was like "dude, smoke a joint or something - mellow out.")

May 10, 2006 9:44 AM

FAT!?!?! Come on people...

May 10, 2006 9:50 AM

She is more than chubby she is fat!!!!!!!!! ..awful cook! Beeotch can't cook nasty nasty ...,greasy and fat food thats what she is feeding america that's why women in america are exploting is so sad ... and she never cleans her food yewk! staright from the packages and she cooks from canned foods so unhealthy
wake up people!
30 mins for that lol.. 30 mins is enough time for hell of a meal from scratch!
organic food rules! lamb chops rule!

Sadly in America chubbiness IS the norm! So "normal" shouldn't be.

FYI, it's "Rachael," not "Rachel."

May 10, 2006 11:05 AM

WOW....she is fat????? OK....what are you people looking at??
I personally have never seen her cooking shows. But my mom loves her, and my mom eats healthy (NIKKY). My dad has high blood pressure so he has to eat healthy. My mom has all this womans cookbooks and goes on and on about how great her recipes are.
I don't get you people. We knock Nicole, Lindsay and all those other skinny bitches for being bad role models for our children because they are so thin. Then when we have a woman who is actually healthy, we knock her too. Make up your minds people. Hollywood is NOT the norm. It's a fake city, just like the people in it. In the real world woman have curves and are NOT made out of plastic. Some people still believe beauty is not skin deep. MORONS

Her cooking show is a joke - the childish perkiness is annoying and only displayed b/c this chick can't cook. If I want canned and packaged 'food' I'll go to a fast food joint..

May 10, 2006 12:03 PM

I have to side with the folks saying that much of her food is nasty. I have two of her 30-minute cookbooks, and without modifying the recipes, they can be pretty rank. If you ONLY use organic canned foods and use pre-washed veggies (which most of the ones that she uses are) and have your butcher pre-prep your meats for you AND also use a food processor to chop (she's a frickin chopping machine, no way I can match that speed!), then you MIGHT be able to cook her recipes within 30 minutes and have them come out tasting good. BUT it's expensive to get precut & preprepped & prewashed foods, so her recipes aren't exactly for those on a tight budget.

skrpune, I must say, that's an excellent and correct critique of Rachael's dishes. By the time you get done buying all her pre-made stuff those meals have to cost a fortune.

btw, I think you should send your comments to the Food Network especially since you bought her cookbooks.

Becks, you have an interesting definition of "healthy." "Heavier" does not equal "healthier." "Healthier" would equal some better food!

May 10, 2006 1:42 PM

she is fat! nicole richie is too skinny healthy women are Carmen electra jessica simpson jlo, salma
healthy size 1 t0 6 depeding on height 8 and up you need to hit the treadmill (unless you got a medical condition)... now the food even pre -wash salads you should wash ! and all meats and fish must be rinse with water ..etc even if you got them from citarellas or dean and deluca! ... she sucks she is a joke .. I like Giada de laurentis .kelly wong, bobby flay, barefoot contessa etc
Rachael is nasty and sloppy terrible cook!

May 10, 2006 3:33 PM

Supernova, her husband John is an attorney, and the band Cringe is a side/hobby.

May 10, 2006 4:13 PM

I watch her show...only cooked one recipe and it turned out really well. I remember looking at her and thinking...she's a bit chunky...not really fat, but she could tone up. Then I figured that her boobs are not proportionate with her body shape (too small)...hence the weird body.

May 10, 2006 4:24 PM

for shame people! you shouldn't be putting her down because of her weight!

it's much easier to put her down because she's annoying, dumb, a bad cook and a bad tipper!

...and also because she wears weird shiny boobie cups?

Definitely has put on weight since getting married - you can really tell when they play old and new shows back to back. She seems to have an odd body - broad shouldered and "thick" rather than fat. Also appears short which adds to the whole squat and wide thing.

May 10, 2006 5:49 PM

Different strokes, I guess. I love Rachael and think she is cute and personable. Watch some of her earlier shows. Her body was just right, not too skinny, not too fat. She's gotten chubbier over the last few years. So what? Give her a break--she's a newlywed and loves to feed and eat with her hubby. I love her perkiness and how her show speeds along. A lot of the others bore me. I started out watching Emeril. Still love him as a personality, but talk about sloppy!! He doesn't wash his hands enough for me. He's a man's man, though. I picture him watching football, eating pizza and guzzling beer. Bobby Flay is an excellent chef, but he is too pretentious and smug. Please! He acts like he can barely tolerate other people, especially when they are the ones doing the cooking. He is a first-class know-it-all. He doesn't have half the people skills that Emeril has. Giada can cook, but does she have to open her mouth so wide and perfectly pronounce every single syllable when she's talking? Double Ugh! And she needs to stand up straight! Hunching over with her hair in a bun makes her look like a little old lady. I only watch the women. Love Rachael, Paula, Barefoot Contessa and Sandra.

May 10, 2006 6:31 PM

Here she is, with her original face - no botox or nose job, original boobies - no silicone, original body - no lipo. Maybe you all need to look at the archives - Eva Longoria with no make up, Janet's weight issues. Don't bag on her just cause she has kept all of her original parts, I'm sure she's naturally more pretty then all the people on here talking shit.

May 10, 2006 6:52 PM

I disagree (cordially, of course), it seems since the 1970's-late 80's what used to be accepted as normal was normal weight women. WHAT THE NORM TODAY IS the heroin chic of the 90's a la Kate Moss. America hasn't accepted "chubbiness" as the norm as you put it...people like those who call her "chubby" have accepted shapeless, skin bags as the norm...

May 10, 2006 7:39 PM

Btw, my friend in the Village knows her "husband". She's a beard, and a rich one at that. It's fairly well known, among those in the know.

And he does not work at a law firm or his own office. She always says he's a lawyer, but he doesn't NOT practice law. He just plays around with his hobby band (which sucks shit)while he waits around to cash in.

May 10, 2006 7:41 PM

EDIT the above: he does NOT practice

May 10, 2006 7:43 PM

All I can say is she totally has quaterbacker shoulders. I caught her on the daytime Emmy's walking on stage to present, and she walks just like a dude! It wasn't too attractive!

She seems to favor halter style dresses and I don't think they are flattering on her at all. I don't think she is fat, I think she's a little chubby and that style dress makes her shoulders and arms look beefy. IMO she could use a stylist. Hair, necklace and dress don't work. She is totally flat-chested and could have worn a dress without plastic boobs.

May 10, 2006 8:39 PM

she isn't fat, shes broad. its bone, not really fat around her shoulder area.
and does it really matter? does cutting her done make you feel better about yourselves?
and a 1-6 does not always equal healthy. the average american women is a size 12. The women in hollywood look like less than 2% of the world. If you were followed by stylists, had nutritionists and were paid millions to look a certain way, everyone would look like that.

May 10, 2006 8:44 PM

the reason you don't see her washing her food is because it's already been done. do you ever see chicken or meat that comes wrapped lightly in plastic wrap without any stickers or labels on it? it's "stage food". there's never any blood or juice or anything. also the canned foods she uses all have fake labels on them if you look closely. there are no name brand products shown on there, just like any other t.v. show.

May 10, 2006 8:46 PM

also, giada says "creamy" way too much. everything is " SOOOOOO CREEAAAMMMY" i hate that shit and her big huge mouth. at least rachael came up with a great concept in 30 minute meals. sure if you're not a pro it may take later, but so what. she's got some great ideas and recipes that can be easily adapted.

May 10, 2006 10:41 PM

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a beard?

May 10, 2006 11:12 PM

Hi Redneck,

A beard is someone who is "fronting" in a relationship or on a date, generally for appearances sake of the relationship...i.e. "alledgedly" TomKat...

May 10, 2006 11:29 PM

Sorry, but I really am a redneck. So are you saying her husband is gay? Why is she pretending in her marriage?

May 10, 2006 11:29 PM

size 12 is the regular american size yeah the new obese america (hey if you are down with the beluga club go ahead)..1 t0 6 are perfect healthy size in order to be those sizes women eat right and exercises and don't seat on a couch , eat & watch other fat women cook.. simple .. around the world people are laughin at american women for letting thenself get so fat.. .. I don't think Carmen electra or katie kouric are skinny or fat they are just right same barbara walters or diane sawyer for their age .. whatever 60 % of the american population is over weight .. cnn Oprah, the view.Magazines they talk about it is a real epidemic .... this chic is fat and thats all if there is two line skinny girls or fat girls ..well she is going to the fat ones...

I have fat friends who struggle so much .. but don't want to change their habbits ...so ,who ever says that Rachael is not fat you are lying to yourself ( no big bone shit here) please !
and nicole richi is anorexic!...

May 10, 2006 11:39 PM

Ok I'll take It back she is not fattttt! she is very chubby! going towards the fat lane ..but I really don't care how she looks .. I just don't like her cooking show thats all .. sorry folk's

now size 12 on a 5'10 and up maybe ok(if you work out .. but not a size 12 on 5'8 and under !
damn people .. I hate to be so judgemental .. sorry if I was rude with my comments .. my deepest apology!... I just want everybody looking good ... I see my friends very unhappy about their looks it's getting to me!

May 11, 2006 9:06 AM

Actually she is not fat. Saw her in person at the Time Magazine event. She is actually smaller than she looks in this picture.

Hate me. People need to get serious. We were not created to be fat. We have two legs to walk and run and get moving. If the entire population becomes obese, I will never condone it. People just need to stay more active and busy. Find a passionate hobby and get involved in something that brings you joy. You won't be thinking about stuffing your face. Besides liking food, women are having a lot of emotional problems and that's why they overeat. They hate being fat!

We need to stop trying to please everybody else, take care of ourselves and be happy. I'll bet Mrs. Ray is also going through a stressful period since getting married and trying to juggle different cooking shows. That may be a reason for her weight gain.

I am in shape and proud of it because I control my body. I love being in the minority. I still get plenty of attention from men because most women my age have let themselves go and are overweight with rolls on their midriff. I refuse to let my body have that kind of power over me. That's like being a slave to something. I control the food that goes in this mouth. I love to move, I don't stack my cupboards full of junk food, and I rarely eat out. I eat fresh, simple food, the kind our ancestors ate when they were roaming the earth--beef, chicken, fish, nuts, eggs, bread, vegetables, milk and water. Rare indulgences are ice cream and chocolate, and soda and popcorn once in a while at the theater.

Mature people really need to cut back on the fattening foods. They are going to cut their lives short, and many will go out of here in pain because they'll develop illnesses that make them suffer before they die. A lot of these great chefs will go into bad health right after age 60.

I couldn't care less about being a great cook. I just need to prepare healthy food that's good enough to eat.

Rachael Ray is pretending to be straight for the FN success machine. It is more acceptable in middle America to be a married chef than a manic lesbian nomad. It paints a prettier, more palatable picture, (see Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Rock Hudson, Tab Hunter,)etc. She is probably just good friends with him and they have an "agreement". Nothing new in Hollywood. People in show biz go to great lengths to portray wholesomeness, when sometimes they are totally NOT.

You ppl are idiots. She's not fat or chubby, she beautiful and for the really stupid people, her tits aren't "shiney" she's probably got them pierced. Some people are just really stupid.

May 12, 2006 12:14 PM

Why are you all hating on Rachael Ray? It's like a person is damned if they do, and damned if they don't. You can never please everybody, so we just need to live life for ourselves. She has some meat on her bones, but so what? What size are all you? Many women in my family are thick, and some of my best friends, and I don't dare put them down. I love their curves.
I'm glad Rachael is true to herself, and hasn't tried to conform and starve herself to fit some "Hollywood" standard. Is she perky and giggly and silly sometimes? Yes. But, that is part of her appeal, and I love that! She is just herself. And she is RICH! She capitalized off of who she is. Why don't you all go out there and try to do the same instead of putting her down to make yourselves feel better about your lack of comprable achievement.

There's better ways to feel better about yourselves than attacking or ridiculing someone's appearance. It's petty, lowest common denominator behavior.

Live long enough or suffer through a disfiguring accident or disease, and you too will feel the brunt of society's worst as they pick you apart and dehumanize you based on your looks.

Break the chain or get whipped by it eventually.

Everyone suffers from their own demons or addictions... food, gambling, drugs, toxic relationships, depression, etc...

I love those people that feel the need to gloat about how they have it all together... there's a name for that too, it usually means they're hiding something... putting on a false front. We're all human and are predisposed to our faults and weaknesses. Life is tough enough without ignorant people making value judgements on others when they lack an understanding of that person's history or suffering.

May 12, 2006 11:27 PM

Did anyone watch Rachael Ray on Oprah today? That Rachael is a fun person. She seems like a very nice lady. I don't care if she's straight or gay. I'll bet she's a perfectly wonderful friend to hang out with.

I also want to make the comment that every single person or chef on The Food Network who has his or her own cooking show must know how to cook. Don't you think?

May 13, 2006 1:58 AM

Hey Nikky and Jo, shut the f up. Why don't you "ladies" go masturbate or find some other constructive activity. Boasting about the self-control you supposedly have is its own kind of self-indulgence. Instead of eating potato chips you're spouting off about the bodies of celebrity chefs. Way to represent "healthy." If you didn't have all of these overweight people to feel better than, God knows the emptiness of your own existence would be clear to you.

May 13, 2006 10:17 PM

Uh, NO!

Barracuda and anyone who is a glutton- the risks associated with obesity are very clear. If you continue on that road, you're going to pay later. The truth hurts doesn't it?

PS- about the topic... I watch Mrs. Ray, even though I don't cook her recipes. I like her a lot. She's energetic and passionate about what she does.

Jo, I think you mean well. Just know that what's easy for you is not so easy for others. We all have our demons and are influenced by genetic based behavioral predispositions. Sometimes these forces are so strong that we need more than just willpower to deal with them.

True, obese people are at an increased risk for health problems and need help, but shaming or ridiculing them into healthy eating isn't the answer... same reason you wouldn't ridicule an alcoholic to sober up. It's the wrong approach that's most likely to be counterproductive. A sincere, caring approach and a willingness to be there for the person when they're ready to change is the way to go. Interventions to break addictions... food, alcohol, etc... is one effective method that works when done correctly and with compassion.

AD I agree. Excellently put.

May 15, 2006 2:04 AM

Jo, I'm fortunate enough to actually be on the thin side. You assume I'm a "glutton" because you assume anyone disaggreeing with you must have a weight problem. You've drawn a line in the sand between yourself and overweight people. I have not. I have drawn the line between myself and other thin people parading their genetic good fortune as proof of some moral virtue. Gluttony can take many forms, self-righteousness being one of them. How's about that for some of your precious "truth hurts" philosophy?

May 16, 2006 2:41 PM

From all the people that have negatives commentary about Rachael Ray seems to me may have some self esteem problems themselves. Why else would they be bringing someone down that is cute, funny, intelligent, down to earth, has the ability to motivate people and is highly successful. The ridiculous ridicules is called JEALOUSY.

May 16, 2006 4:28 PM

Rachel Ray looks great. She looks REAL. Instead of concentrating on Rachel's (supposed) weight problem, maybe you guys (Nikky)should concentrate on your illiteracy problem. People can gain or lose weight, but stupid people have nothing better to talk about than the way someone LOOKS.

May 20, 2006 6:11 PM

Okay people get a life, She has ideas and they work and people love her and she sells books and magazines and wow DVD's too.. Maybe the public is jealous now that she also is a great friend of Oprah's. America live it up and enjoy the food

May 20, 2006 11:16 PM

ok, i wear a size 14. i eat healthy anr run 3 miles a day, plus yoga 3 times a week, see a trainer twice a week and walk everywhere within a mile of my house unless i'm in an extreme rush. and i'm staying constant at a 14. maybe to people who sit all day, a 14 is large. but i'd like to say for me and all the athletic yet curvy girls. its not "letting my body go". i wear a 14 and i'm comfortable with myself, i know that based on my bone structure i'll never be a size 2, but i'm probably in better shape than some of the size 2 girls. so god, get over yourselves.

May 20, 2006 11:49 PM

It's sad that our society is so obsessed with looks. So she doesn't have Barbie's figure..does it really matter all that much? Shouldn't we base our value of people on their personalities? And why should we judge things we can't change (like Rachael's boobs)? I think it's just so rediculous. Oh, and let's learn to spell while we're at it.

May 21, 2006 12:51 AM

She can't cook and she's way too happy, but the comments about her body are way off-base. You people need to go back and listen to the lyrics - "It ain't the meat, it's the motion." Once you do that, you will understand why she is wet dream material.

May 21, 2006 2:01 AM

The most annoying person on TV. Awful cook, man hands, muffin top, joker grinning, EVOO guzzling, in the clost, media created sensation. I wish she (it?) would just go away already ......

May 21, 2006 2:47 AM

Hey, here is an idea, lets not judge people by the way that they look! It is simply irrelevant in judging ines character.
