UPDATE: In one of the most confusing responses ever to something of this nature, Britney Spears was quoted as saying, "This is why I need a gun," after the event was over. Um, what would the gun be used for? To shoot the baby before he hits the ground? To keep her fans at bay? Use it keep the paparazzi in line? Girl, you tripped. That was really it. Someone needs a rest.

ho ho says:
first!
FortheLOVEofGAWD says:
Look at her outfit. Does a sober person wear a black bra with a white HALTER. Not to mention the drink she has in her hand..water? I daresay its probably something a little stronger. Total trash. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but she continues to make a fool of herself. If I were her, I'd stay home. Poor Prestion and fetus. They are doomed.
Jane says:
I can well imagine why K-feds first wife is reluctant to leave her kids with step mommy dearest.
tess
I have 4 words for that: Call The Social Services!! We don't want Sean to be another statistics of child abuse.
evilcookie007
WTF? Isn't at least a little bit of common sense supposed to kick in when you have kids? Why does she always look like she's carrying a toy around? It's a baby...pay attention you stupid hillbilly!
babasgurl says:
I wish there was a video version of this... it probably doesn't look as bad as it is.... I feel bad for her, I can't imagine what it would be like to raise your first child with everybody watching and scrutinizing you... but she has to realize that that is what is going to happen in the public eye.. and start thinking about holding her baby with TWO arms, if you drive in vehicules with your baby.. make sure you aren't breaking the law... etc. etc. No new mom is perfect, we all know that... would we all care if she wasn't Britney Spears?... if you saw a woman walking down the street with her child and this happened.. would you help her? or criticize her and say that child protection services should be called on her haha.
steph says:
Ok, I definitely would have dropped the drink and used both hands/arms to hold on to the baby...but come on...don't be SOOO hard on her for this one!...anyone that has had a baby can attest to the fact that a 9 month old can be pretty heavy and wriggly...and hard to hold on to...I recommend Brit invest in a stroller...maybe use some of the cash from the high chair settlement...
Brenda says:
Can see her priorities....so what about the kid, don't spill my drink. She is proof positive that
money does not buy common sense. She is nothing more than a young hillbilly who does not know how to take care of herself let alone a child.
anti says:
She look all worn out. If you notice she is never holding that poor baby correctly. She has not parenting skills whatsoever. Poor kids
ninjagirl says:
I dont think it's such a big deal. I am sure most parents would have photos like these if they had people snapping shots constantly.
Maybe if the paprazzi wasn't hounding her, she could pay more attention to what she's doing rather than focusing on them.
d.c. says:
Stupid wobbly, ill fitting heels, and too long pants? Anyway, the sidewalks are trecherous sometimes.. That's why she hired the minder.. Male to the rescue.. so cute., I bet he puts some wise advise in her ears eventually..
Sparrow says:
I actually feel bad for her on this one and Steph said it best, they are heavy wriggly kids at that age. Its stinky to say but I think she should hibernate in her house for a couple months and give herself and us a break from all of her exposure.
maggie says:
Babies wiggle, and you really need to hold them with BOTH hands. Especially since Sean P. seems to be unusually slippery and hard to keep a grip on (probably the greasy Cheeto residue build up). Really, 20+ pounds is hard to balance on one arm while wearing heels and tending a beverage.
justMe says:
marriage troubles always end in alcohol abuse.
she doesn't care much for the baby right now since she's in depression. there IS a video version of this and I tell you, she did't as much as notcie that the baby almost fell on the floor.
she just sat down and cried because paparazzi were herassing her even INSIDE a restaurant.
being drunked definitely helped the tears to come.
that's why she said she needs a gun. there's no other way she for her to keep the paprazzi at distance.
I feel so sorry for (what has actually happened to) her. but hey, the baby is already too big to carry it in one hand.
and if you put your vodka in one and a gun in the other where are you gonna put the baby??? on your shoulder??
Vicki says:
I agree with Steph--- babies can be wiggly, but use some common sense and when you feel as if you are falling with your son in one hand and a drink in the other, drop the drink and wrap bith arms around your little one... thankfully BS had her posse of bodyguards, etc... around to help out with this one... I dare say she should just hole up in her Malibu mansion... it seems like she is a walking, car, common sense disaster one time after another... Enough--- go home and parent your baby and the one you are expecting--- prove to "us" that you are a diligent mother, because as it stands now, you are failing miserably...
Gigi says:
Around this age, a lot of babies do this annoying bending-backwards-with-no-notice sort of thing, if they don't want to be held. They literally throw themselves backwards. It's really common. But, of course, a lot of the folks bashing her on this particular point don't HAVE children, and wouldn't understand.
That being said, she definitely isn't the model parent. The car seat fiascos make me sick to my stomach. But, in this instance, I can completely understand what probably happened (although I think I would have dropped the drink.)
Small Fry says:
Okay, the photographers are never going to leave her alone and you think she'd have figured that out by now. So, if you are going to be followed by a load of people every time you go out here are a few things to consider.
1. Don't go out so damn much, stay home. Or leave Cheeto home every once in a while with Kevin...wait, bad idea. Leave Cheeto home with a nanny.
2. If you are going to go out with Cheeto, why don't you use the back door to the store or eatery you are going into to avoid all the ruckus, they'll ususally do that for celebrities.
3. If you insist on bringing Cheeto with you everywhere you go consider having a nanny, bodyguard or stroller do the work for you. Cheeto would be much safer in the arms of someone other than the paparazzi's target.
4. If you are going to insist on carrying your baby yourself then dress for holding a wiggly little baby. Wear sneakers, jeans that fit and a shirt that will contain your giant beast breasts.
My final comment is that she doesn't do any of the things listed above because she LOVES the attention she gets from all of this. She is addicted to the fame, good or bad.
Layla says:
Hey, I'm just happy the girl is finally wearing a bra again. One step at a time people. We can't expect her to figure out what to do with her boobs AND the kid at the same time.
Kat says:
Put down the drink an get a grip on you baby.
2 Old 4 This says:
Just me - I don't buy the drinking problem thing.
She didn't spill a drop - NO PROBLEM!
palys says:
This baby will be dead in less than 2 years. How SAD! This woman is the most pathethic excuse for a mother. What kind of mother wears heels and long pants all while carrying her 8 mo child in one arm and a drink in the other? Not Britney's fault?! Pleaaaseee...that was a disaster waiting to happen.
maryanne29 says:
I guess we should be thankful she's pregnant and wasn't carrying her usual Starbucks hot beverage and burned poor little guy.
I feel a press release indicating a hospital stay for exhaustion is forthcoming.
emily says:
Like I said, poor baby.
Lisa says:
Ok, she has definetly done some irresponsible things with Sean in the past, driving with him in her lap, putting him a convertible with the top down. But this one is not so bad. I am a parent and almost dropped my son a couple times. I tripped once and he was throwing a fit and jerking his head back.
I think all parents may have done something that Child Services would question once or twice, let's be honest. But I do agree that she has made one too many slip ups and needs to shape up.
MizLiz says:
I notice she managed to hold onto whatever that "beverage" was without spilling a drop. Thank God for the nanny/minder or poor little Cheeto would have another crack in his skull. She seems to be one of those female celebrities who reproduces strictly for the publicity value and only then finds out what hard, unrelenting work raising a child can be, Those of us who have raised several without benefit of millions of dollars and multitudes of nannies know all about it.
las says:
"Lahk, I need a gun, y'all. Sos I cahn shoot all those dayyum pavarottis who take photos of me doin' stupid stuff, y'all!"
Seriously, look at her face. A normal mom whose kid almost took the cement dive does not look like she's in a stupor afterwards -- she holds the kid tighter and looks concerned. Britney does neither. She just ambles along the EXACT SAME WAY, not caring that her baby almost died.
Britney is obviously drunk. She barely looks aware of what is happening, and she is clutching that glass like it's the only thing she's holding. Given that her marriage is on the rocks, I think it points at one thing only.
kcj3115 says:
I normally don't comment on Britney either one way or another but I have to say I sympathize with her on this one. No one else seems to notice the man in the blue jacket who is standing in Britney's way. I believe she tripped to avoid walking right into him. As to the drink, it looks like it's made of glass and not plastic. It's possible that Britney was thinking that if she dropped it, it would break and then what would happen to SPF if he DID fall out of her arms? Not only a sore head but cuts and abrasions too. It's great that security and the male nanny were there to assist but why couldn't they have carried her glass for her? Then she would have had two hands to hold SPF. When my children were little, they all attempted the backwards dive out of the arms; they were unsuccessful but some attempts were better than others. However, let me say while I understand this incident, I do not condone the car incidents nor the high chair fall. I can see where some parenting classes would be most beneficial.
Clarabelle says:
Accidents do happen. I just think Mrs. Federline may want to try to minimize it. Let the Bodyguard or someone else hold the drink. Watch the length of your jeans and just sit some where and CHILL. Stop trying for the photo ops they all seem to backfire.
The gun comment, unfortunately it seems that since the beginning of her career Britney liked playing victim she never seem to think that she has any power in anything. She makes the decisions she just have to start accepting responsibility
trumpbunny
Two hands, Britney, TWO HANDS! How can she possibly be drinking if she's nursing AND preggers? And that kid looks unhealthy too, kind of like he spends his entire day inside eating junk food and watching too much TV. You just know that this kid is going to end up a spoiled delinquent before he's twelve.
socialite fashion says:
The girl is only human! Come on, everyone trips and its seriously not her fault that sean p. fell out of the highchair, she wasn't even in the room.. but now the sitting on the lap in the car thing was a bit much.. but give her a break!!
Whatsthatsmellycelebthinking
Baby's always do shit in public can't blame her for that. And it didn't drop, this thing is almost like the michael jackson thing with the baby..now that was shocking!!Give brit a break!!
N says:
She didnt drop the drink because then we would know what was in it.
Jeanette says:

This is a link to the video of this - you can hear her say the gun comment too!!
anna says:
leave the woman alone, everyone trips even holding a baby! I am not a fan of britany but i am sure all of you people who are critizing her are not the worlds best parents either. She is learning! give her a break! i would hate to see your pictures if you had a camera in front of you 24/7
Britney Is Over Y'all says:
If I hear one more person say " give her a break"
or "she's human" I am gonna scream. WTF? She is a spoilt little trollop. when someone keeps putting their baby in danger time and time again, you can't call it a mistake. She shouldn't have had a glass in her hand, she shouldn't have carried the baby herself. She wants this attention. Instead of saying "poor britney" what about her poor baby?

meshorte says:
ok so I normally dont post on here, but seriously give me a break! People screaming about holding the baby with 2 hands...who seriously does that? Every single mother you talk to will tell you thats how they hold their baby. Now if that is the "proper" way who knows. And the whole "oh my god shes drinking and nursing" yeah unless you were there pouring the drink, you dont know whats in it. heres the thing... I watch a 4 year old and a 2 year old...the youngest was walking out the front door and down a step...he lost his footing and I had my hands full. I didnt drop what I had. I dont know why. I just didnt. I put my leg up and broke some of his fall. So unless it actually happens to you, stop giving her a hard time. I just cant believe that now shes married to someone America doesnt like she is up for the bashing. Yes I know she got alot when she was single, but then people would justify her actions saying shes young and hot so she can do what she wants. And for people calling her a bad mother???? Ok so the whole let me drive my car with my baby on my lap was beyond wrong. But she takes this baby where ever she goes. Because if you saw her in the magazines with a nanny holding Sean P. everyone would freak out because she isnt taking care of her child. You guys are bitching just to bitch. I just dont get it. If you dont like Britney ...dont like her for real reasons. Because if she was just a normal mother...everyone would be saying..oh that was close, be careful, you ok.
Nikki says:
Hows about good on her for not falling over completely. Stuff like this happens to regular people so why be so hard on her? We aren't perfect and neither is she.
Pittyparty says:
meshorte... the reason u just caught the little one u were watching with ur foot is because he wasnt your child. Any GOOD mother would do any i mean ANY thinbg possible to keep their child from danger... even if it meant dropping thousands of dollars worth of iteams!!!
