I am not a fan of American Idol and have actually never watched the show, but since the media has been cramming this crap down my throat all week I can say from the clips that I have seen that this dude's singing is mediocre at best and extremely boring. I would be way more inclined to purchase her CD than his if I ever decided to change my taste in music to the category of "complete crap."

I don't really understand how Taylor won. Sure he has a good voice. But to me he seems like a karaoke (dont know how to spell it) singer. He sings all songs pretty good, but there is just nothing really special about him. He tries to morph into the person whose song he is singing (Elvis much?)American Idol is TOTALLY rigged i think.
I personally think Chris kicked ALL their asses. Even last night again he outshined them all when he sang with all the guys. His voice is damn sexy, and he isn't bad to look at either!

I concur with ugot2bkdngme. I didn't even watch until the last three eps, but that guy who just won was totally karaoke--what a joke. Even though I think Eliot deserved to win, I can't believe this guy (with zero vocal skills) got picked over Katherine. If we ever thought American Idol was a joke before, the results of this season prove it.

I might be alone in this feeling, but to me, this was the worst "Idol" season ever. Taylor's a "soul singer" like Pat Boone is a "soul singer."
Chris and Elliot were the only decent talents in the last 10. Everyone else - meh.
Only 2 of the 5 "Idol" winners I've actually felt were talented - Kelly and Carrie.

Lizzy, I agree with you on most points, but I can't believe you're not adding Fantasia to your list of talented idol winners. Her vocal talent is undeniable and her album (if you like that genre of music) includes several really good songs. Ruben also has a lot of vocal talent even though his post-idol career hasn't been as successful.

Sorry but if you don't "get" Taylor you probably don't get anything. Like the world needed another bald headed rocker (yeah right). His singing style got really old (goat bleating) and staring into the camera like a terrorist bomber didn't help any. The reason America voted for Taylor is that he is a unique fresh talent. Nothing like the other Idol winners in the past. His kind only comes around once in a great while and yes, he will be the next Elvis.
