Wow, Page Six and the New York Post just can't get a break. In the latest of mishaps for the gossip column and paper, the gossip column's editor Richard Johnson (shown above in happier times) Thursday night for driving under the influence. Perez Hilton first broke the news, and TMZ has posted more details on the arrest.
Manhattan Police pulled over the 52-year-old Johnson in his 2005 Ford Escape, alleging he was "intoxicated... had watery and bloodshot eyes, had slightly slurred speech and had the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath." The criminal complaint also says that Johnson "refused" to take a breath test.Johnson has been charged with one class D felony count of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and one misdemeanor count of operating a vehicle while impaired. Manhattan DA spokesperson Edison Alban says Johnson will be back in court to enter a plea on July 31st. If convicted on all counts, Johnson could face up to 7 years in prison.
Johnson's attorney Edward Hayes tells TMZ "Richard went out for a couple fo beers after playing basketball, nobody got hurt, there was no accident. I don't think he was drunk, he might have had one beer too many."
Here's my beef with Richard Johnson - why not just have a driver waiting for you if you know you're going to be in a situation like that? How else do you think I get home from work every night without moving down half of New York City. Live and learn I guess.

His lawyer's logic is ass-backwards. Yeah, the drunk was lucky and he didn't cause an accident. That hardly makes it ok to have had "one-to-many" and then get behind the wheel of a car.
The rest of us don't deserve to have to worry every time we walk down the sidewalk that some asshole who had "one-to-many" might fucking kill us. Loser. Both the lawyer and the drunk.

I agree with Tiggy and Peach. What the hell is Richard Johnson doing in a Ford Escape? Hell, I wouldn't even drive a Ford Escape. Or any kind of Ford for that matter.

I had a DUI and boy did that teach me a lesson. Whenever I go out and then drink, I usually say ... hmm, over $6,000 in DUI fees, legal services, and more or do I leave my car at the bar and pay $50 max. for a TAXI.
