We'll get to the apology in a minute, but damn, that's a big scar. Moving on...
Star Jones has decided that it was to apologize to her fans for the wedding extravaganza that ensued when she married Big Gay Al. Star said that she was "caught in the euphoria" of marital bliss when she was planning the wedding, and did not think that her actions (constantly asking for freebies on The View), might bother her fans.
"I don't think I took the viewers on the right journey with me, and I want to apologize for that," she said. "I was a 40-year-old who, according to urban legend, had a better chance of being kidnapped by a terrorist than getting married. And I was caught in the euphoria. And I think I used, and some would say abused, my celebrity in planning the wedding."If she had it to do over again, Reynolds added, "I would be more humble, and I would allow them to see the genuine character of who I am, which I hope they see right now."
Is it too late?

Fabiola says:
Puh-lease. May she rot in Hell.
Marnie says:
What viewers is she talking about?
Barbra Walters says:
Star is nothing more thatn a self-absorbed "celebrity" caught up in her own hype. Does she deserve a second chance, absolutely not!
How many millions of people would give their right arm to have the opportunities that she has been given?
Every time she discusses her "spiritual advisors" I want to ring her neck. Are these the same people who helped guide her in choosing which airlines freebies offered the best deals for her wedding, etc...?
She is corrupt from the word go. The reason she had all the bad press to begin with is the fact that Americans are far to smart to be taken by this bullshit she pulled. People will always call out people who are anything other than genuine. It may take a bit of time, but it always happens.
I think Star will go the way of many other lesser talents. She had a golden opportunity and she killed it. It was nothing more than her true self-entitled personality coming to the surface.
As for her marriage, I give it six months at best. Gay Al no longer works (hasn't in the past year or so) and Star will become increasingly more angry and bitter. Even a gay man has his limits with enjoying "DIVA" like behavior.
jenner says:
I have NEVER seen anyone do damage control SO FRICKIN' BADLY as Starzilla
First the crazy Larry King interview, now this - does she even HAVE a publicist? Is it Britney Spears's publicist???? geesh!
jenny says:
why do you show the photo of the scar ??? what is the purpose if u do not tell the reason , are u trying to allude to her breast surgery ??? whats the deal .... more power to star, if half of you cows walked in her shoes, i would like to see where u would be right now lol the joke is on you beotches
violette33
She got the big head and forgot to play the game.
Or thought she could play with her own rules. Barbara Walters owns the game. Sorry, Star. You lose.
Larilee
Right Jenny, the joke is on all of us. Why would I WANT to walk in Star Jones' shoes? I prefer my Steve Maddens to her Payless and I like having a job.
Jasmine says:
I believe this photo was taken before Star's breast surgery. Star HAD to get her breasts done because they looked dreadful. I kept thinking her husband Al must've been repulsed... losing 30 pounds is bad enough, but when an obese woman with huge breasts loses 150 pounds, Ugh! You're basically left with deflated flapping balloons sagging down past your navel.
Why are you so angry about her freebies? What is the big deal with that? I think it's stupid of everyone to keep harping about it. If you were able to save money on your wedding, you'd do it too. And if you were offered lots of nice things for your grand affair, you'd take them. Don't lie. Many here are complete hypocrites!
It's too bad Star had to go out this way. This scandal has provided a nice bit of excitement on this site, though. I'm not her fan, but I hope she still has a career... somewhere. She's a fighter, that's for sure. I think The View will go down the tubes and that will be the end of it.
Dr. Doom says:
Saving money on your wedding and asking for freebies are two separate things, Jasmine. Asking for freebies is low classy and trashy. But really, who the hell does Star think she is taking on Barbara Walters? I give her points for her chutzpah, but ultimately she was doomed to fail.
NiffNiff says:
Well, I don't really like Star Jones, but I like that she has actually admitted that she went overboard with her wedding details and how she admitted how she used her celebrity in order to get free stuff, but seriously there are probably a lot of brides out there who would take advantage of free stuff and whatnot. So I guess I don't really blame her. Star seems like a fairly intelligent person so she should have no trouble finding another job.
KittyLiterati
I personally think less of someone who would take the cheap route and allow companies to use their wedding as an advertising extravaganza.
There are easier ways of saving money than selling one's expression of true love to the highest bidder. It's called "working within one's means." And nothing about that fat check Star was getting from "The View" said she was wanting for money to cover her expenses.
I guess begging companies for sponsorship seems like a logical choice for one's special day if someone's as tawdry and hypocritical as Star Jones.

::: sniff sniff :::
I'm pretty sure I can smell the bridges burning all around Star. She was the one that lit that match.
lucy says:
It's a shame that she needed a slap back to reality to make her apologize for her repulsive behavior on television. It would have been nice if this apology came before the s@#t hit the fan.

Too little, too late.

I have no lcue what type of scar gastric bypass leaves, but that looks just like the scar my dad had after his open heart surgery. I wonder if she has to have, like, a quadruple bypass or something before she lost that weight via gastric????
Who Cares says:
Fans...I didn't think anybody even liked her
Been there, done that says:
Jasmine,
I lost a little over 100 lbs 5 years ago and had a breast reduction/lift and a tummy tuck. I did a lot of research before the procedure and now mentor other women going through the process...
Saying that, the scar in the picture on this posting is not related to a breast reduction or breast lift in any shape form or fashion.
I did my weight loss the "REAL" hard way (in contrast to Star's 'hard way' of weight loss surgery) - but I have a friend that has had the procedure. They don't go to your stomach by going in at the heart. They go in, laproscopically usually, at the abdomen.
The only thought that comes to mind is that the doctor that did her 'work' was doing it for free in exchange for advertising and she got what she paid for.
Molls says:
Why would anyone wear clothing that shows the scaring from plastic surgery? It's not like the scars are on her neck so that in order to hide them she'd have to wear a turtle neck year round! Showing a little less cleavage is not that difficult.
Cheesy says:
Uh, breast reduction does not result in scars like that. That kind of scar is like an open-heart scar; reduction scars are MUCH less vivid, and done in a discreet manner, since the entire point is to make the cha-chas look good.
Who Cares says:
Fans...I didn't think anybody even liked her. She brought all this bullshit on herself, I don't feel sorry for her.
TheReporter says:
The scar is from the removal of a tumor on her thyroid glan when she was in college. Doctors thought the tumor was inoperable and told her parents she would likely die. An expert surgeon took it out and she lived.
SEP says:
Very tacky of you to show scar on Star's chest. She has been more than honest (and self conscious) about it. The scar came about when she was in her early twenties - had an inoperable tumor- was given only a few weeks to live as she- found a doctor who performed the surgery (same doctor was in operating room when President Ragen was shot) and I'm sure she shows off her scar as a badge of honor.
Cheesy says:
That's a nice theory, SEP--except if she really thought that was a badge of honor, she wouldn't have it airbrushed out of all her photos on her website, when she's wearing low-cut (why, lord, or why low-cut?) clothing.
Jasmine says:
I know the scar above did not result from Star's breast work. I wasn't really thinking about the scar. Who knows where that's from? Could be from the bypass, or, as someone just said, thyroid gland removal. I was noticing her breasts in that suit. She should've covered those babies well. Of course, a photog is going to get a sneaky shot.
I've seen The View from time to time. My fave is Meredith V. Her personality can fit in anywhere I think. She has intelligence, humor and classiness, but mostly, she is just a very REAL person. No airs or pretentiousness.
Star is intelligent, but she strikes me as cocky. She's also stubborn. I saw photos of her vacationing on beaches in places like Jamaica, letting it ALL hang out, and it was a bad sight! I was like, "Yikes!" That woman has no sense of shame! She didn't care who saw her. She was about 300 pounds and refused to admit to herself (or her friends) that she had a serious weight problem. Her attitude seems to be, "Nobody is going to tell me that I can't wear what I want to wear" and "I love food and no one is going to tell me what I can and cannot eat!" (snaps fingers) She'd even cram her overweight feet in sexy strappy sandals that looked too small for her.
I think Star's refusal to talk about her gastric bypass surgery is directly related to her huge ego and pride. She hates to admit that she couldn't lose the weight on her own. It reminds her of failure.
Some of you presented your case well enough, but I still believe you'd run off with those freebies and not feel an ounce of remorse. You might not want the world to know you did it, but if you could pull it off, you wouldn't care about looking trashy or low-class. You saved yourself some moolah.
Everybody wants something free, even if you already have money. As Trumpster says, it's the art of the deal. On another Star Jones topic, someone said Star did not beg for those freebies, but that the offers came to her, and she took them. That sounds completely realistic to me.
Brad Pitt and Angelina didn't ask for anything either, but when Shiloh was born, companies sent them free baby clothes. Famous people get these little perks all the time.
RoenC says:
The scar is from a tumor that was removed. It was near her heart; She was a tennager at the time. I dont think it is as ugly as it appears in person. These websites blow pics up.
Death Star says:
She puts the "stupid bitch" in the phrase "stupid beeeeeeotch."
She needs to shut the ufck up.
kcj3115 says:
The thyroid is located in the neck. The scar shown is well down on her chest. It reminds me of the scar my mother has from gall bladder surgery years ago - before they started doing it laproscopically.
I'm no fan of Star's; because of work I couldn't watch the show. My mother did and said that Star was openly asking different companies to step up to the plate and offer freebies for her wedding and she'd give them "credit" in her wedding program as having provided X or Y. Considering she probably has a hefty paycheck, there was no reason for her to seek freebies.
And my two cents about The View... it will go down the tube for sure when Rosie joins.
goldie says:
sniff sniff i smell hypocisy on this message board
Rumor says:
Some of these comments are pretty funny. I mean that in a nice way (smile).
I have friends who swear they will never watch The View again. The brouhaha left a bad taste in their mouth. I wasn't crazy about Star, but before all the drama, she was a great addition to the show. Something happened in the last couple of years. I'm sure she has learned many valuable lessons, so good luck to her.
MONZEE says:
SCAR JONES?
Jasmine says:
...something I really meant to say, but forgot to say in my last post is...
Congrats to "BEEN THERE, DONE THAT" on your spectacular weight loss!!! I was being a little silly about Star Jones, but didn't want to make light of what you've achieved. It takes real courage and determination to lose that amount of weight through good ole diet and exercise. Viva!!!
het says:
people, pls pay attention...Star is not makin a big deal of being fired..Babs is...Star was goin to continue comin to the show til July 13, when she was supposed to.
I am sick and tired of people makin it seem like Star is makin a big deal of this when she really isnt...geez.
Rebecca O. says:
People losing weight and keeping it off have a success rate LESS than people being cured of cancer.
I always think that people who criticize others for not being able to lose weight are probably people who've never had a weight problem themselves. These people think they did something to earn their bodies, when in fact it's 90% (at least) genetics.
This is why this gastric bypass surgery is becoming the rage. It circumnavigates genetics by making the stomach smaller, I believe.
That said, people who have it are neither "giving up" or "finally solving their problem" ... They will still have a problem: the world's perception.
How did we get to the point where being large equates to being stupid, ugly, less worthy? Used to be that extra weight was considered beautiful and desirous.
I know we'll never go back to that, but I'm fed up with the comments denegrating Star for having the surgery -- some say she is wrong to not tell everyone, yet others say she looks awful now, others say she was prettier before, and still others say she was out of control ... I can't keep it all straight!
How about it's her personal business and we all stay out of it? That's what she tried to tell people -- by not talking about it!
AND whoever said she asked for freebies on the air and promised to talk about the givers as free publicity? WRONG. She never did that. This is what ABC contends, but they are lying. I watched the show enough to never hear her say it ... she only ever mentions Payless shoes when someone compliments her shoes. That's it.
And considering what that show is: an hour-long advertisement for products that sell to women (how many fashion shows, how many product demonstrations, how many movie plugs does it take until the commercial nature of the program is evident?)
Star doesn't need to apologize to me. And anyway, she already said all this on the Larry King interview ... perhaps this is a regurgitation by the press, needing to write more about it because they're having a slow media day? Or Star and Al went out for an evening and some reporter asked a question and the answer is being treated as new info?
Dee says:
Oooh! Something's going on at The View. They've rerun the same show at least two more times within the past two weeks--the one publicizing "The Devil Wears Prada" w/Meryl Streep.
I think they've especially lost their black audience. They brought a black soap actress on to fill Star's shoes, but no can do. Sayonara.
Patty Babuscio says:
What a shame that people have nothing better to do than to criticize somebody they don't even know. Just about every celebrity receives freebies unless they don't want them. I was always a huge B. Walters fan and not so much of a Star Jones fan...until now. ABC found an excuse to get rid of her & to bring Rosie on board. For those of you who would like to discuss class, start there. Bravo to Star for NOT doing exactly what she was told like a good little girl while she was being kicked to the curb!!!
Snow says:
Barbara Walters don't own sh@% but her ugly ass...Her days are over..ugly ass bi#%@!!

ABC did the right thing. Barbara did the right thing.
Scar did the wrong thing.
realityhurts
She is mean.
She got fired from not only The View.
She got fired from Payless.
She got fired from E!
She cannot and will not get another TV job unless it is to parody herself.
Buh bye scar.
