The Madonna Hand Airbrush Controversy

Of course her hands were airbrushed, people! It's an advertisement - everything is airbrushed in advertising! Enough already! Breathe. Michelle Facey, from the David Martin photography studio in Liverpool, even goes so far as to bring up the possibility that a younger models' hands were used for the shoot.

"I am shocked by what I am seeing," she said. "Quite simply, these are someone else's hands. Madonna has always had quite veiny hands but there is not a line, wrinkle or vein in sight.

"While it is possible that they have been totally digitally re-touched - her natural skin colour being built up to effectively smooth down the veins - it is more likely that they actually belong to a woman in her twenties.

"If you look at the size of her fingers on the right hand compared to that of her thumb on the left, they are not on the same scale. Her right hand consists of huge, sausage-like fingers, far bigger than its usual size, and is totally out of proportion with the other.

"Alternatively, Madonna could have had hand fillers injected into the skin of her hands to give them a plumper, more youthful, appearance.

"But with ever-advanced digital technology, almost anything is possible nowadays, and anyone or any body part, can be made to look younger."

You can all be happy that you don't have to age in the public eye.

Has Madonna airbrushed her hands? [Daily Mail]

Of course the photo is touched up. Her hands might not be so veiny because she's holding them up in the picture.

People with lots of vascularity (weightlifters, yoga addicts, etc.) have veiny hands when gravity pulls blood downhill. She's also clenching something in the first picture. Anyhoo...

It's simpler than that: gravity.

I have veiny hands, too (though not quite as veiny as Madge's), but if I hold them up in the pose in the ad photo, the blood drains away, and the veins virtually disappear. If I hold them down below my waist, as in the candid photo, they're very visible.

Talk about making a mountain out of a mole. :)

Madonna is amazing, who cares about her hands?

Man, those are some creepy, veiny claws she has. I wouldn't be surprised if they were someone else's -- retouching rumor is that her ex-protege Britney had her head grafted onto a model body for a cover.

Silly rabbit is right. The veins in your hands become more pronounced when they are below the heart. Also, she is carrying something which, if heavy, would also lead the veins to look more bulky. I bet the photographer snapped the pic of madge and then the "horrible veins" were a happy accident. Now they can put a blurb by the picture and people can post about it!

Well for one the picture on the left her hands are down, so all the veins puff out more.

And two, really who gives a shit?

People really need to get something new to talk about, can't believe we've lowered ourselves to such a stoop that we complain about airbrushed veiny hands.

No wonder why celebrities crack it, paparazzi and the media are complete idiots.
