The New York Daily News discusses the latest trend in fashion: lying to consumers about their size to make them feel better about their girth, or as it's known in the fashion world: "vanity sizing." Thus, the introduction of the size "00."
Apparently, since over the past 50 years, the average woman's waist has gone from a 27 to a 34 and yet sizes continue to shrink.
Look, I know how big my ass is and I'm pretty much OK with it. My mirror isn't broken and most of the time I'm just trying to figure out what fits and what doesn't. Walking into a store and confusing me with numbers that are supposed to make me feel better about myself is just going to piss me off when I get home and realize the shit I bought doesn't actually fit.
And that's my rant about that, just in case there's a compassionnate designer out there who's willing to put a stop to this phenomenon that is inconveniencing women like me across the nation.

I totally agree! If people wanna start feeling better about themselves they need to get their butt moving or get it sucked out >=(

i need accurate sizes to let me know when i'm getting too lazy. because i never weigh myself, the fit of my clothes let me know where i'm at. obesity is a huge problem in america and eating disorders are a huge problem in hollywood so let's just be honest about weight with the public and help people become healthy.

I laugh at how a size 4 (vanity size) at Ann Taylor equals a size 12 (or 42) European at, say, Dolce & Gabbana.

Yes, we all know that fat-assed "fake" size 00 Nicole Richie would have been a size 12 30 years ago.

Why is everyone so damn fat these days???? And why are they "OK" with it? Is it "OK" for me to shower only once every 2 weeks? No, both are unhealthy and gross. Get off your ass and exercise.
