She fumes, "Creating a cultural icon out of someone who goes, 'I'm stupid, isn't it cute?' makes me want to throw daggers."I want to say to them, 'My grandma did not fight for what she fought for, just so you can start telling women it's fun to be stupid.'"
Wanting to throw daggers is a tad harsh. She may just want to douse Jessica with a hose instead.

first of all i love reese as an actress, i think she's great..but she was the one who played the "stupid blonde" in Legally Blonde, which showed girls that is was fun to be cute and stupid. a little hypocritical don't you think? But at the same time i agree with what she's saying...girls shouldn't dumb themselves down to make people think they're cute

honey85: Yes, Reese played Elle Woods in Legally Blonde but the difference between Elle and Jessica is that Elle actually attended law school and graduated. Not just that, but she stopped an innocent person from going to jail. She used what little brains she had and THAT is what was so endearing. Jessica relies on her "chicken or tuna? tee-hee" persona and that gets sickening over time.

and i agree with C...I think Legally Blonde was more about overcoming the stereotype of being a "cute and stupid" blonde and showing the world the power of a determined mind.

I think both females are wonderful people. And though Jessica's comments did come out stupid, it actually shows how smart Jessica really is. She needed publicity at the time, she needed to dumb herself down. You cant tell me that she didnt get a lot of crowds after that comment, I mean, she signed about 4 contracts for commercials, agreeing to make fun of herself about it. And, even if Jess was serious, at least she had the humor to make fun of herself.
I also think that Reese has an over all great point. Girls dumbing themselves down to look cute, is not a good thing. Guy like girls who are beauties, and brains. And, well, in my mind, everyone is beautiful in their own way, so, the only thing girls need to work on is their brains. And thats why its dumb to 'stupidfy' yourself.
&& About the Legally Blond issue. Reese didnt want to do the movie in the first place. But, he publicsist made her check it out, and after a while, she enjoyed that it had a positive veiw, and knew that it would score her big points [Money and publicity] so she took the role.
