The father of a 13-month old baby boy is claiming that Madonna is preparing to adopt his son. David, the young son of a mother who passed away shortly after his birth, was placed in an orphanage when his father, Yohane, realized he could not take of him by himself. Initially, Madonna had expressed interest in adopting a girl, but has since changed her mind and has been looking for a boy to adopt. From The Daily Mail:
Last week, the Mail reported how 12 orphans had been selected for Madonna to chose from prior to her arrival in the capital, Lilongwe. 'She asked us to identify boys only, which we have done after visiting four orphanages in Lilongwe,' government spokesman Adrina Michiela said.I'd like to imagine that Madonna stood in front of the 12 orphans and started off by saying, "Now, as all of you realize, there can only be one Madonna's Next Top Baby. I only hold one picture in my hand..." and quite frankly, I'm sure you know how the rest of it goes.

I know that folks can do with their money as they please, but why does not have to go overseas to adopt an orphan when there are all races, sexes, and combination thereof right here in the US
To quote a literary character, Esme Squalor, "Didn't you know darling, adopting babies from Africa is IN!"
No Regrets
I have to agree,,, I am happy to know that they are adopting... well actually I am not,,, but if they have to adopt why not adopt a child in the US... and if it has to be black, then adopt a black child in the US, but please don't do it because everybody else is. This is serious business and shouldn't be taken lightly...

the fact that she had 12 babies presented to her to pick from bothers the hell out of me. slave auctions come to mind. Not to mention the publicity game she played that surrounded this whole affair, she's absolutely not adopting said Liz the flack just a week ago. it all seems so flippant. there's a child involved here. this is weighty stuff and it should be treated accordingly.

There are about 500,000 kids in the foster care in the US just waiting for a home. No need to go overseas for a child to love.
