When Mel Gibson sat down with Diane Sawyer, he talked about his 65 days sober, the anti-Semitic rant incident and his plans for the future. According to partial transcripts of the interview set to air on Good Morning America on Thursday, Gibson said, "Years go by, you're fine. And then all of a sudden in a heartbeat, in an instant, on an impulse, somebody shoves a glass of Mescal in front of your nose and says, `It's from Oaxaca.' And it's burning its way through your esophagus and you go, `Oh man, what did I do that for? I can't put the toothpaste back in the tube.'"
He also stated that he plans to continue making movies, while also working to heal himself and those he offended, but quite frankly, I find the two activities mentioned to be in direct opposition to each other, but whatever.
Predictably he blamed all of his anti-Semitic statements made during his drunk driving incident on the booze. Bo-oring. In any case, he's sober now...for the moment.
