Making War Look Sexy

Looking very hot and scruffily on "The Early Show" Ryan Phillippe proudly spoke about his new film:

"This was a dream for me to be able to do a film with that sort of content and these people," Phillippe told The Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith. "My grandfather was my hero. He won a Bronze Star in Germany. He would tell me stories, periodically, usually about mechanical things, tanks and guns, not about death and his friends dying next to him."
The film's plot is based on the world famous photo taken by Joe Rosenthal of the five Marines and a Navy corpsman who raised a flag in on Mount Suribachi in Iwo Jima. Three of the heroes died in the war while the others returned home. Upon the surviving men's arrival back they started to aid in the bond drive to raise money. But, what is interesting is that it is said that the picture wasn't was not of the original flag raising. According to the story believed now the original flag that was erected wasn't big enough. Ryan explains still looking to sexy for TV:
"(That) is something no one never knew and there were questions about the circumstances under which the photograph was taken. But the impact it had was phenomenal. They raised $25 billion in 1945 to win the war essentially. It galvanized the nation. We were out of ammo, out of equipment, out of uniforms and this bond drive paid for everything."
Great message. While I am not a fan of the war movie genre, I will be patronizing Mr. Phillippe's film. Yes secretly with the hopes of nudity but really I couldn't be more grateful to the men and women fighting for our country.

Thank you for that. My son is a Marine in Iraq and it breaks my heart to read and hear people say the most heartless things and spout the most inane analysis....regardless of how you feel about war, thank God for those who are willing to die to protect our asses.
