So, Wayne Ford and myself both dragged our asses out of bed to get to the Beverly Hills Peninsula Hotel this AM for the People's Choice Award nominations. Luckily, it was worth it--there were croissants, muffins and orange juice. Oh yes, and stars. That's right. As you can see, we managed to snag some good pix of the announcers, Alyson Hannigan and the newly outed, Neil Patrick Harris (both of "How I Met Your Mother") as well as Kate Walsh and Isaiah Washington (both from "Grey's Anatomy").
Initally, Wayne and I felt a bit out of our element, surrounded by paparazzi and camera crews from Extra and the like. (I even caught Wayne sadly holding his camera, as if unsure if its size were adequate for the task at hand.) That is, until the yells of "Alyson! Alyson!" and "Neil! Neil!" started and Wayne went out and giggled, while getting his first taste of what being a paparazzo was like. I suspect he may have liked it more than he would care to admit. At one point, Wayne overheard a paparazzo (referring to the Isaiah Washington f-word utterance from the notorious "Grey's Anatomy" scuffle) muttering under his breath, "Hmmm, a homophobe and the new homosexual. Interesting." But everyone was predictably well-behaved, although Kate Walsh was the only who stuck around for any post-announcement interviews--as far as I could see.
On to the nominations...
Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Aniston, Johnny Depp, Halle Berry, Queen Latifah, Charlie Sheen, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Eva Longoria, Justin Timberlake, Shakira, "Grey's Anatomy," "Two And A Half Men," "House," "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and "My Name Is Earl" are among the distinguished list of nominees.
