Oh No They Didn't over on Livejournal relates how Gwynie Paltrow is still into United States-bashing. She's such an ass.
Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow's recent comments branding Americans not as civilised or intelligent as their English counterparts has sparked fury in her homeland. The Los Angeles-born actress made her remarks to a Portuguese newspaper last weekend and almost immediately radio stations across America were besieged with angry callers regarding the Shakespeare In Love star's comments.
Gwyneth's exact words and more photos are after the jump.
Gwyneth Hates America [Oh No They Didn't]
She says: "I don't fit into the bad side of American psychology. The British are much more intelligent and civilized than the Americans. I love the English lifestyle. I'm not as capitalistic as America."One caller blasted back, saying: "If she feels that way we are far better off without her."
Word. I don't quite get the Gwyneth Paltrow mystique. Shakespeare in Love was ok, and she had a cameo as a decapitated head in Se7en. What range. Seriously though, it's all well and good to bitch about capitalism when you come from money, still have money, and are married to a incredibly popular rock star who has even MORE money. Tell ya what, Gwyn...you and Chris, and Apple and Moses and Bathsheeba or whatever it is you're going to be naming your next tot give it all to charity and move into a council flat (Britain's version of projects). We'll see how much capitalism-bashing you do then, sucka.
But to her credit, she's the only person I can think of who responded to "America, Love It or Leave It" with leaving it. It sorta makes her even more annoying.

Gwyneth Paltrow uses her celebrity to SELL PRODUCTS! You don't get any more capitalistic than that -- she helps to keep the big, shiny, exploitative global-capitalist machine running! What a self-righteous, hypocritical dode.
Londonfields
Oh dear-- another cringe-inducing, imbecilic statement from a smug celebrity who breathes rarified air. I am an American expat living in London close to Paltrow's affluent neighborhood. I have met and socialized wih lovely and intelligent British people but they are no more or less intelligent than my friends and associates in the US. There is also a vile and menacing element/underclass in London and Britain today that the Paltrows of this world are insulated from--thus the vaseline-on-the-lens, peachy view of her little world.
Please Ms. Paltrow, believe me when I say that you and your life are neither interesting nor meaningful (notwithstanding the presence of the intelligent and civilized big sister Madonna). You need to keep your foolish narcissism to yourself.

I think we need to "save" Gwyneth from capitalism by not buying the products she is hawking. That way our American dollars will not tempt her into joining our capitalistic ways. I will never understand why Estee Lauder picked such a condescending, anti-American person to represent their products. Boycott Estee Lauder.
ZeldaF
Beautifully said ALL of you. I can't stand the stupid bitch and you won't catch me buying any Estee Lauder products she hawks. I've spent the last 15 years going back & forth to The UK on business, I've spent A LOT of time there and they ARE absolutely lovely people. But to say they're more intelligent and civilized than Americans is just plain bullshit (how's that for civilized Gwinnie, BULLSHIT, a good ole English term). She is attempting to portray herself as something she is only in her dreams. Intelligent and civilized.
Jinxy McDeath
I agree, she's nothing more than a shill, and not a smart one. I too plan to boycott any product or company she represents, and I certainly won't be seeing any movie she 'acts' in anytime either. Arrogant bitch.
Wickedkitten
What a daft bint. She must be forgetting that her mother is American, and her father is American, and oh wait, she's American too.
Draya
Could Gwinnie the DOLT be more pretentious, condescending, patrician, phony and snotty? Probably.
I'm almost stunned at her stupidity. Almost. Problem was she did have script in her hand to follow.
Hell will freeze over before I ever purchase any Estee Lauder products.
She was awful in Shakespeare in Love. Her flat chest was the most convincing thing about her performance.
Draya
Sorry, I meant to say "Problem was she didn't have script in her hand to follow".
