Jessica Simpson freaked her shit while performing "9 to 5" in tribute to Ms. Dolly Parton at the Kennedy Center Honors on Sunday night.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that she flubbed the lyrics, explained that she was "so nervous", and hauled ass off the stage. When she came back, she was crying.
The stunned audience remained silent, giving her no applause.Simpson appeared to be crying when she and other singers in the tribute returned to the stage.
CBS will broadcast the show Dec. 26 at 9 p.m.
What happens is that people think you need to add some "hipness" to one of these stodgy awards shows by throwing in some popular albeit slightly trampy-looking singer. And of course, it's always a train wreck. I'm guessing the Kennedy Center Honors requires seasoned professionals, not faux-singer/actresses who gained their popularity through divorce and are remaking "Working Girl" just to piss me off. Damn her. She should have sang "A Public Affair" and roller-skated around. That's a hot jam, and her boobies on roller-skates might have distracted from the utter lack of talent.

I heard on MSNBC from a reporter that she definitely had a dress issue, as in it was falling down which explains why her arm was across her chest the entire song. This was the main she freaked out. Also, CBS is cutting her entire appearance for the televised performance, which I think is a good thing.

Gaahh!!! Why is it that the more coverage there is of Nick and Vanessa, there's more pics of Jess being drunk in public? She obeyed Pappa Joe, got rid of Nick 'cause Joe wants to be the only man in her life, and the world is NOT her oyster as Pappa Joe promised it would be if only she got rid of Nick.
Jess should be gettin' rid of Pappa Joe, or she'll never have lasting success with any man.
Sorry, Jess....you can't put husbands on a shelf when you tire of them, and then expect them to be there at your convenience..........unlike what Pappa Joe says, the world does NOT revolve around the fu**in* Simpson family.
Jessica and Papa Simpson are the ones that ruined her image and her marriage to Nick. If Jessica wasn't so far up Papa's ass and listened to all of his advice (about marriage, career, etc.), I think that Nick and Jess would have been fine and stayed together. It doesn't help that your dad is telling you to slut it up for your videos either, so the Simpsons are more to blame than Nick ever will be.
Jessica turned herself into the iconic blonde. She made herself famous for her ditziness. People started calling her America's Sweetheart for her antics.
For a period of time, she was heralded for being perfect. She became incredibly visual in our media, but it wasn't for her music or her make-up line, but for her image. She was famous for her persona which was a ditzy person with a small vocabulary. When that type of persona becomes iconic, I find it extremely offensive.
