USA Today reports that Kate Winslet has come out a-swingin' against the profusion of skeletal body images in the media.
Hollywood star Kate Winslet finds the glamorization of ultra-thin "size zero" models and actresses "unbelievably disturbing" and says she keeps magazines featuring such women away from her 6-year-old daughter."It's so disturbing because young girls are impressionable from 11 up to 19 or 20 even. Women are very impressionable at those ages," Winslet told British Broadcasting Corp. television's Sunday AM program.
"They're trying to figure out who they are, and they want to be loved, and what I resent is that there is an image of perfection that is getting thinner and thinner, and it's truly upsetting to me."
Stick-thin celebrities like Kate Moss, Nicole Richie and Victoria Beckham have been criticized as poor role models for young women and accused of contributing to the rise in eating disorders. A major fashion event in Madrid, Spain, banned ultra-thin models from the catwalk earlier this year, and other shows have indicated they plan to do the same.
Kate Winslet is a fantastic actress. And fantastic actresses are always right. Somewhere, Victoria Beckham managed to sound out the words to this and then called her a fat pig.

i am sick and tired of hearing about how bad it is to be thin! im naturally thin myself (seriously) and dont think that i should be thought of as bad or anorexic because of it. celebs dont go on the record and make fun of fat people, why skinny people? the us has an overwhelming number of obese young people, so why encourage them to NOT be thin? obviously kate isnt fat, but just becasue people are smaller, that doesnt make them bad or bad role models!!

bugsieca, you are one of the lucky people who are naturally thin, something to be proud of!
Problem is that some people are not natually thin, so they slim and slim but take it too far which leads to health problems and so on.
It's all down to people trying to be someone else.
