Police Reunion In The Works

The music industry is all a-twitter with buzz indicating that 2007 may see the first reunion of the artists formerly known collectively as the Police since their break-up in 1986. CNN reports:

Sources told Billboard.com the reports -- in the British press -- were legitimate, but they would not publicly comment until final details are nearer to completion.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the release of "Roxanne," the single that broke the Police in the United States.
"Discussions have been underway as to how this will be commemorated," reads a post on Sting's Web site (http://www.sting.com) attributed to a spokesperson at the band's A&M Records label. "While we can confirm that there will indeed be something special done to mark the occasion, the depth of the band's involvement still remains undetermined."
That is, unless, if Sting's not too busy working on his jazz recorder album.

I love The Police, but they'll have to build a big enough stage for Sting's head to fit on!!!

I actually saw the Police twice as a teen and liked their music just like I liked Supertramp, Genesis and a few others from that brit invasion.
That doenst mean I want to see them again now when its nothing more than a money play and which means tickets will be going in the obscene range.

Seriously, there are tons....TONS of great bands on the planet and myriads of ways to listen to them.
Only old farts who are afraid of new things (The music was much better in our days.) will always try to recoup their lost youth.
That's why you can go to a Santana show and see balding fat men with ponytails in the first few rows seated in their 300$ seats thinking "Im still hip" and even being so bold as to light up a joint.

Oh yeah...there are a lot of people in the viagra set with the disposable income to make Sting very very rich.

Of course, if Mr. Sumner were to adopt some colored kids, it could really help promote this.

I will pretty much go anywhere and do anything to see The Police live, I've seen Sting twice and it was great, but man, The Police would kill me.

Having seen well everyone who has come down the pike since 1986, The Police alluded me since they broke up before I was able to drive a car, collect the money for a ticket and actually go to see them.

I truly hope that they do reunite for a tour, not for the old fart comments as stated previously by another poster, but so that people like myself who didn't get a chance to see them can finally get some closure on one of the greatest (and briefest) bands of the 80's.

Dana, I don't think Sting needs the money or is into this for the money. For that matter, neither are Copeland and Summers. If anything, a concert like this will unite both young and old Sting and The Police fans, respectively. Santana is one thing, these guys are another and have proven to be mature musicians in jazz, rock, classical, and world music.

Tons of great bands on the planet? Mind offering me a few names besides the RHCPeppers, Radiohead, and Coldplay? You didn't mean Greenday, I hope? It doesn't take a genius to figure out that today's music doesn't stack up. I grew up in the '80s and appreciate Hendrix as much as U2. Today's stuff is good? Are you serious?
