Retired Miami Heat player Tim Hardaway's very honest . Here's what he had to say concerning former NBA player John Amaechi coming out:
When Miami Herald columnist Dan Le Batard asked former NBA star Tim Hardaway about how he would have felt dealing with an NBA teammate who was openly gay, Hardaway responded with a full-blown barrage of personal feelings on the touchy topic."First of all, I wouldn't want him on my team. You know, I hate gay people, so I let it be known," Hardaway said. "I don't like gay people and I don't like to be around gay people. I am homophobic. I don't like it. It shouldn't be in the world or in the United States. And second of all, if he was on my team, I would, you know, really distance myself from him because, uh, I don't think that's right. And you know I don't think he should be in the locker room while we're in the locker room. I wouldn't even be a part of that," he said.
First off, who wants YOU, Ugly? Second, I can't believe he's saying this when he was such a good kisser.

Hmmmm... sounds like comments from someone on the Low Down.
brat says:

Tim Hardaway - Bigotry at its finest.
Tine says:
Right Alex - this guy is obviously a gaylord. How much more apparent could it be. He sucks (dick).
rootabega
omg he is so in the closet. why is he even talking about this?? gaylord for sure...
mike says:
In his defense (sorta), he was ASKED pointedly what he thought of the situation (as opposed to issuing an impromptu statement), and he is entitled to his opinion, stupid or not.
That said, he threw a fucking ball around for a living, so who the hell cares what he has to say about homosexuality?
toby says:
I have no clue who this sportster is or why anyone would go out of their way for a quote from him. But I do find it refreshing that he was so open about his ignorant opinion. Especially in front of a microphone. Especially in this post-Isiah Washington era. I love that he unwittingly deflected homophobic accusations by flat-out stating that he is. There's a certain nobility in admitting your flaws up front. And his blatant honesty saves anyone with taste and intelligence from having to debate him, or even pay attention to him.
Throw that man a Snickers, indeed.
bbmaggee says:
What? We get a cookie now for admitting our faults... ooh look at me I know I'm a bigot and I'm admitting it... good for you! Still doesn't change the fact that as a BLACK man he is an intolerant asshole. Keep your opinions to yourself no one gives a shit.
Lizzy says:
Well this is certainly one way for a has-been to get his name back in the spotlight.
He even went on a CBS radio interview later on and said that if he found out any member of his family was gay he would never speak to them again. What a guy (cue eye roll).
Why does Hardaway think any gay guy would be interested in his ugly repulsive ass? Talk about getting hit with the ugly stick, Hardaway was born with one.
I also agree with those who say he's on the down low. Just talking from my personal experience, but those who harbor that much hatred towards homosexuality, tend to be deeply closeted individuals themselves.
Loob says:
I agree, sounds like he's struggling with himself.
And he's such an asshole and a bigot, waving his arms around squealing that he thinks there's something bad about being gay, that he will probably hate himself for his gayness, when he should ACTUALLY hate himself for being an asshole.
Funny MySpace Pictures says:
This news is sickening and shocking. And just as shocking is that in the WNBA, a former player just announced that she was straight!
Other WNBA players were not tolerant: "Keep that breeder away from me! How can I trust her in the locker room? We'll be showering and she'll be giving birth!"
Ghost says:
'And you know I don't think he should be in the locker room while we're in the locker room. I wouldn't even be a part of that," he said.
...A part of WHAT, exactly?
What a pompous, sickening asshole.
Gregorio says:
These guys are paid to play basketball not be social commentators!Tim Hardaway-nice name when discussing gay men issues-proves himself to be a bigotted and stupid individual.Back in 1940-if Hardaway was white and a friend of Hitler's,he would have been a very busy man at the inferno ovens. Hardaway-take a break and go fuck yourself!
Krissy says:
I wish that people would stop attacking this dude. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Most people are liberal only in theory, so why get upset when someone finally has enough balls to be politically incorrect and state their true feelings?
ya ya says:

===Maybe he was just letting off some steam, you know. I mean we are brain-washed into being all
politically correct, walking on eggshells type of thing, the man has a right. Um, it's called...FREEDOM OF SPEECH!
relax already says:
He can say what he wants. How sad that he was made to apologize just like Mel and Michael. But why not Paris? the racist, homophopic ho!
Such Hypocrisy!xxxxxxx
Loob says:
Hmm. Freedom of speech used solely to show your ass?
I guess it is sort of helpful for everyone, that he's wearing an "I'm an ignorant bigot" sign around his neck. We all know now that he's not worth knowing, so it will save everyone lots of time.
Stephen says:
Usually people that are homophobic are homosexuals themselves. Tim, is there something you want to tell us???
Mark says:
What is with the whole "locker room" thing anyway. It's funny how straight men always think all gay men want them just because they are gay. Wake up straighties...we'd sooner go dipping in the fish pond than have sex with most of you. Worst of all, as an african american, you would think he would be somewhat sensitive to discriminatory remarks. I know that the gays have been branded, for some strange reason, as the last group people are allowed to hate, but maybe it's time that people who don't want to be discriminated against stop doing the same to others. Thanks to the NBA for having some balls (slight pun intented) and banning this jerk. Someone send him to gay rehab with I. Washington from Grey's Anatomy. They can share a suite!
dani says:
it still amazes me how some people can't see biotry for what it is. it's not just a race issue, it's a hate issue. if he would have said "i hate white people, they shouldn't be in sports or in the world" or god forbid, if it had been a white guy saying he hates blacks, there would have been a firestorm of controversy. as it is, this is the only place i've seen it so far. you know, i hate bigots, they don't belong in the world!
JaneSays
Leave the man alone. I can't imagine it being an easy life being Michael Strahan's mini-bitch! He's just sufferin' is all...bitter queen! Add him to the growing list of racist, bitter bobbleheads that include Michael Richards, Isaiah Washington, Paris Hilton and Mel Gibson! It really sucks that retards like them have the means to spread their hatred worldwide!
CK says:
This is what happens when the media interviews clueless idiots in the entertainment industry, pro sports or any other very public occupation that requires very little intelligence in areas other than their main occupation. This guy stated honestly how he feels. He has a right to do that and the boneheads that interviewed him gave him the stage to broadcast it from. Someone earlier stated how the shoe would be on the other foot if someone stated they hate blacks. Time and time again, we witness public displays of hatred and intolerance. Some of the most intolerant acts witnessed anywhere is in the Muslim community against the west. Where is all of the outrage? So some celebrity sounded off about his homophobia. Try living in a sharia state as a gay man and see how your perspective changes. Getting beheaded by Omar the Executioner for being gay is alot worse than listening to some primadonna sports star blathering to some ignant media twerp. Amazingly enough the last thing any of the typically democrat gay population ever dreams of doing is supporting the war against Islmofascist terrorism that has been brought to our door. This dumbass Hardaway opened his big mouth and all the PC crowd is gaga over how intolerant he could possibly be. Then you all go out and support political candidates that berate and belittle our armed forces that are fighting the war against an exponentially worse form of bigotry and hatred that will stop at nothing to force their delusional form of repressive life upon the rest of the world. To all of you who've chimed in against an unimportant individual's latest example of foot-in-mouth desease .... get your priorities straight.

Your valediction was hilarious J. :-)
All that guy's hate is never going to do him any good.

freedom of speech, remember? says:
True dat, CK! all u haters have to relax. I mean the man has a right. Really he does. Just like you have a right to say what you have said about him.
and yeah be thankful that you are not living in the Middle East as a gay person, cause they don't give a rat's ass what you think. They'll just cut your head off. SO BE THANKFUL, DAMMIT!

Eff you Freedom and CK. You're as hateful as he is.

eff my Freedom? No, it's Freedom of Speech. DON'T EVER FORGET THAT PEOPLE. DON'T BE SCARED OF THESE SUPPOSED LIBERALS.
Why don't you take your ass over to Iraq, bit*ch and then you'll see the difference, p*ssy. No? Didn't think so.
Bella says:
Finally!!! I couldnt agree more with Tim Hardaway, thank god someone had the nerve to step it up, major props to him... He should not feel the need to apologize for his feelings its this freakin liberal/gay media that does it to people. Im glad he stood up and said what he did I back him 100%
Heama603 says:
Sounds to me like if there was a GAY in the locker room he should watch out for Tim, because I think Tim cant trust himself to not make a move and THE GAY. and he just might kill himself when he realizes that THE GAY dont want none of his advances.
and to Bella and Tim do you really really need to care about who is bangin who? Do you really sit there and think all day about how gross it is that people like to date, love and sex peeps of the same sex? Because if That is what you do than your retarded. You should base whether you like a person on their character not their orientation. Unbelievable. Perhaps your parents forgot to teach you that.
kiki
This is a pro athlete... They are role models to young children. Even more so than celebrities. Is this kind of intolerance and bigotry you want YOUR children admiring. Its disgusting... NO ONE is asking him to LOVE and support GAY relationships. He is in fact - entitled to his opinion. But it today's world what KIND OF IDIOT thinks its ok to spit out that kind of hate! How did he NOT think this ruin his kind of career!! You don't love the guys fine - but a simple NO COMMENT would have been fine.
Stupid ignorant asshole... and he played for MIAMI - hello Miami!!! Talk about shitting where you eat.
jen says:
Why is it wrong that he wouldn't want gay men staring at his package and later wacking off to it! That would be like women and men sharing locker rooms together and expecting no one to feel uncomfortable!?!
I am a straight women and would feel totally uncomfortabe so why can't a straight man feel the same way.
Calling him "down low" is exactly why gays get treated the way they do. Not everyone who disapproves of their behavior is down low!!!
It's a damn same when ideas are being policed!
CK says:
MG - Your response categorizes you perfectly. You are the typical lefty that cannot put together reason and logic, so you resort to vulgarity, insults and slander. Moron.org has threads just for people like you.
