Germany Makes Jennifer Lopez Cry

Jennifer Lopez was met with boos following the screening of her most recent film, "Bordertown," at the Berlin Film Festival. The poor thing. She was obviously affected by the negative reaction to the film, which meant quite a bit to the star.

Later, Lopez was spotted macing the entire country with bottles of Miami Glow.

People can be so cruel sometimes, especially Europeans. Americans are more polite and tactful about this stuff. Poor J-Lo.

TMZ and X17 are American sites. Page 6 - American. The razzies - American. I'm sorry that J-Lo was upset but she's not a very good actress. She puts herself in the spotlight and then gets upset if the reaction isn't positive.

I'm sorry, but this is just so funny. The shot of her chin quivering is especially amusing.

That's BEAUTIFUL!!!

I LOVE that they made her cry!!

I have a whole new respect for the german's now. Seems they have a helluva lot more taste that us American's who think this twit can act and/or sing.

I'm sure Xenu will help her thru her troubled times...haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahaaaahahaaa!

THAT'S AWESOME!!!!

Jubeln Sie Deutschland zu! ! !

feel sorry for her? not in the least. this woman thinks she's got talent for days, and she just doesn't.

girl can dance. I see old episodes of In Living Color and she definitely has moves, but she's NOT a great singer, and she's NOT a great actress. she needs to accept those facts. LR has it right. SHE puts herself in the spotlight, and she's got no one to blame if people think she sucks. I thought she was good in "out of sight", but now I think she's got a "too big for her britches" thing going on. Like, she thinks whatever she does will be gold.

and now the stupid SUCKER is joining that cult? DUMB DUMB DUMB.

She deserves all the boos she gets. She's a terrible actor and a not so good of a singer. In America all of her friends are invited to the premieres and of course they are going to praise her work, but the Germans and honest people have nothing to lose. If it's it's bad and I hear this movie at the end has no substance like most of her movies. Boo boo boo!

February 19, 2007 10:50 AM

Yeah, most American's are not going to boo, even at a bad film, if the star is sitting right behind you. I'd be really proud if we did.

S.M.G.
Step into the real world sometime...

Europeans are not cruel. They are honest. Don't like it? Stay stateside safe in your little cocoon.

Most americans are too easily dazzled by the image that she has created to realize that she is a crappy singer and a worse actress.

In my opinion they should have thrown rotten food at her along with the boo's.

The German Government maintains that Scientology is an organization which has primarily economical interests ... not a religion. Scientology is pretty much banned in Germany. They were probably booing her for that.

If you feel even an ounce of pity for this whore, then you are officially an idiot.
This whiney spoiled bitch made an ass load of cash off of her mediocre talent.

She cried??? Boo-Fcking-Hoo!

It is sad that this movie is going to be dismissed as it could have given some much needed publicity to the increadibly horrible homicides in Ciudad Juárez...

...Lesson learned? Get a real actress next time like Braga, Hayak, Cruz, Vega etc...etc...NOT a retired FLY-GIRL!

You guys are cruel! Give the girl a break. She worked hard to get where she is today! How many of you can say that?

February 19, 2007 5:42 PM

I agree with BCRllr that anybody who feels sorry for her is an idiot. Feel sorry for Mrs establishment JL ?? A person who wants to be accepted so badly by Hollywood that she is actually seriously looking into joining the Scientologists. Germans had every reason to boo.

Well said, MasqueORD, I couldn't have put it better :)

JLo should never have touched this project. Things did not work out with Frida when she wanted to produce that so she should learn when to walk away.

And she did not work that hard to get where she is today, she can thank Selina's killer for her success.

There is something called "manners" and being tactful. I have been to Europe - don't confuse "being honest" for it!
Ten year old children say "BOOOO" - not a supposedly "sophisticated" and more "tasteful" society! PLEASE.

People are HATERS. She's a triple threat - talent or no talent - she is true success. She has built a brand on her name - this requires no "acting" or "singing" talent - it's called being business savvy and driven - she calls the shots herself- something more people should aspire to and respect!

* How INAPPROPRIATE must a comment be before it's deleted?!

=================================

Amnesty International is objective about Jennifer Lopez. Critics in Berlin blasted the script (not Lopez's acting). R-e-a-d.
Anyone minimizing a film about actual FEMICIDE in Juarez, Mexico, because of obsession with a celebrity, deserves to rot in hell. . .Sure, SALMA and others could have made their own film about this BUT they chose not to. Ask them why not. JENNIFER and Gregory Navas agreed nine years ago to work on this. Yes, Lopez helped finance "Bordertown". So, if you don't know the facts, zip it! Let's see if the editors have courage to print this.

February 20, 2007 6:45 AM

Free speach or not. Most of you should be ashamed of yourself. It's a pity your elders didn't take the time to teach you better manners. And as for the commments about Selina's killer - tsk tsk. I think I'll exercise MY right to free speach, and turn you off!

"And she did not work that hard to get where she is today, she can thank Selina's killer for her success."

First of its Selena, and what you said is just messed up. I agree with madeline7 that comment should be removed.
Second yea Jlo is a bad actress, the sad part of this isn't that the German people made her cry, it's the sad truth of the homicides in Juarez. I couldnt agree more with you Maria.

To Clarify : SALMA is the actress Salma Hayek who is an activist, and is also a producer of the award-winning show "Ugly Betty".

She is the most overpaid and undertalented celebrity out there. Her 15 minutes of fame should have expired after her movie with Clooney. Her music is aweful and acting just as bad. And she is a royal biatch.
In Toronto, at a function for charity ( I paid through the nose to get in) she refused to give an autograph to my 13 year old niece. It wasn't like there was a mob scene or something. Everyone was cool and laid back. She and her thugs had their space.
Royal Biatch!!

im glad she cried, i wish i was there to boo with them. maybe if she wasnt such a bitch and didnt kill animals for fur for her trashy clothing line i would feel bad but until then she deserved everything she got.

February 21, 2007 1:36 AM

Mies, if you were part of security would you announce that something in the area looked suspicious? Celebrities are like anyone else around strangers or acquaintances; familiarity and vibes play a part. Security tells them when they should do something different. Perhaps your distaste for the person or the chip on your shoulder preceeded you.

some of u people are stupid

FIRST, if she really was crying about the boos, it's because it was a passion project for Jennifer. You surely don't want to be dismissed for a project you put all your passion in. It's very disrepectful to laugh at someone in that situation

ALSO, she ISN'T CRYING CUZ OF THE BOOS. She wasnt there when they booed. IT WAS REPORTED that it was because of the mothers of the victims who were present.
When some interviewer asked her about the boos, she didn't know, and just didn't care, she just said: "that's too bad." The main goal of the movie is not to achieve critical acclaim, but to raise awareness about the Maquiladoras' situation in Juarez. And hopefully it will achieve it :) Now families of some european victimes (not only mexicans were killed, but also some dutch girls) knows they have the power to put pressure on the government (who was ignoring the mexican families...)

Besides, most of the critics don't diss Jennifer's performance in particular, but Gregory Nava's writing and directing. Some say she's decent or even quite good, and definitely better than in her romantic comedies. At least she deserves credit for taking risky roles. If the movie's bad, it is not because of her for sure.

Well, if you're just a hater...then keep on hating. Adios

As one editor accurately captured it, this was a display of utter disrespect, not just toward JLo, but also toward the imperative story that the movie is telling.

Critics have opportunities to criticize and slam actors and films in their editorial stories. But to do so at a SCREENING? It's purely juvenile, immature and perhaps even pre-mature.

This isn't funny. While it seems that people and the media love to make celebrities out of people only to tear them down with glee, the fact remains......... this was a project done, NOT FOR THE LUSTRE, but for the EXPOSITION of the murder. As usual, Latino issues are relatively unimportant to the European masses.... this is to be expected.

Furthermore, did anyone stop and think that maybe the DIALOGUE, which is DUBBED during foreign festivals, might just very well be translated badly?! This happens when translating the flower-iness of Latin-based languages into the flatness of the English language. I speak several languages and see many types of foreign films......this DOES happen.

While I am not too keen about her wearing fur, I still applaud her ability to make it in this business. You can say it was this man or that man who caused her star to rise, that is to be expected when a woman asserts herself.... as this is the stereotype.... but I believe it was her DRIVE and TALENT that has catapulted her to higher heights.

We still love you, Jenn!!! Don't let the insecure public stop you from rising high and bringing awareness to Latino issues, specifically those of the people of Mexico!

(and, no I am not Latino, I am English and Greek living in the U.K.)

February 24, 2007 3:26 PM

First of all, I don't like JLo. And it's not because she's a woman or a latina, because I'm both and there are many latina actresses that I love. I don't like her because A) She has no talent B) She's fake and C) She kills animals for fur and shows no remorse over it. And I'm sorry, but I can't look up to someone just because they have ambition - there are many people with ambition and success in the world, am I meant to look up to all of them?
I do have to congratulate her for bringing to light an issue which many people may not know about. But it sucks that she used this issue as a chance to win some awards and boost her career. If that were me, I would have wanted the best screen writer and the best actress for the lead roll. Unfortunately she chose a bad director and a terrible actress - which makes for a bad movie, plain and simple.

I am Hispanic and I for one am happy they made her cry! She thinks she is hot shit. I just got back from Germany attending school and the German people are not racial at all. J-lo is just not a good in movies.

Yeah yeah yeah about the script........If you put so much time, effort, your own money, wouldn't you be damn sure that it came out really good!!!!!

So she got what was coming to her!!!!!

Deutschland voll geil!!!
Germany rocks!!!

JENNIFER LOPEZ Could have just been stressed! I think she deserves fans who don't boo her off the stage. I look up to her as a wonderful person, actress, and a awesome singer. I may just be in the 7th grade but to me she is totally cool. When I took a poll at my school of who liked her and didn't over 78%said love her 16% said is al right and 6% said don't like her. To me that is a area of fans.

April 23, 2007 2:02 PM

Well, I don't know what are those people talking about. They criticize J-Lo because she is "talentless", well, how many talentless people you know that are where she is? People please, she has achieved everything on her own, and I actually don't understand why that comment about Selina hasn't been deleted because that's the most stupid and disrespectful thing I read. That film for sure helped in her carrier, but even without it she would get where she is today. Is true J-lo uses fur for her designs and I really don't agree with that, but there are so many other good things about her and that's why she so huge. She is what she is even if you haters don't like it! What is really awful is that everybody in centered in Jennifer Lopez when the issue of the movie is what is important. Women are being killed in ciudad Juarez and all Germans think about is Jennifer Lopez, Be normal and pay attention to the message in the movie!!!! Well, after all I don't think J-lo should feel bad 'cause that bad experience is just a little dot in her amazing carrier. Viva Jennifer!!!

Jennifer Lopez is uglY! shes hidious! I cant belive shes famous!

July 30, 2007 11:20 PM

Old post, but I could not resist. Americans set the bar very low for what they call beautiful or talanted. There are not very many real beautiful or talented people in the limelight these days. The stars of yesteryear come to mind when I think of true Hollywood glamour and beauty. Can you compare Lopez or any of her peers to the likes of Vivien Leigh (Scarlet Ohara) or Rita Hayworth? I think not! Nowadays the only truly good looking celebs that come to mind is Ashley Judd, Kate Winslet and a few others. Lopez is ugly just as is Penelope Cruz, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and tons of others that are not good looking or talented. Their only claim to fame is being marketed like a product with a short shelf life.

YOU ALL GO DIE IN HOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! JLo is THE ABSELUTE BEST CELEBRITY EVER!!!!! AND SHE DOESN'T WANT TO MEET PEOPLE LIKE YOU! BECAUSE IF YOU EVER BECOME FAMOUS, SHE'LL PROBABLY BOO YOU RIGHT OFF THE STAGE AS WELL!! SO I WOULDN'T BE TALKIN'!!!!!
