Ana Crisan creates fashionable pieces of wearable sugar. Her idea of art, fashion, and food come together to form consumable couture. Currently Ana is in London showcasing a few of her "designs." But enjoy it while you can because she encourages you to sample her offerings.
"I see these pieces as walking sculptures, making a bridge between wearer, maker and the consumer who can literally make a piece of art part of themselves. Art is there to be consumed, so please start nibbling at it as soon as it comes into the open!"
Her idea of edible "accessories" and "clothing" grew from her childhood. She would spend hours working with her mother in a bakery. Decorating cakes is a "beautiful craft" and Ana used her experience to cultivate her idea. You can currently catch her line in Olympia along side Paul Smith.
"One day I suddenly had the idea of changing the landscape these sugar sculptures existed on, transferring them from the round surface of the cake to the body. I am now actually in the process of opening a bakery in Albany, New York, where my work will be open to the public on a daily basis."
Awesome idea, but terrible for the fashion and food obsessed. Instead of eating one's emotions in the form of a lasagna, you will find me gnawing on scarf in my closet.
