Those prone to starting, believing and perpetuating hearsay about the daily lives of celebrities might have recently heard a little rumor that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes had plans to move into a 10-room apartment in Central Park West that was once the residence of Leonard Bernstein. The asking price for the lavish NYC digs is $25.5 million and Page Six reveals that the "inside" sources that started the rumor were close, but not exactly right.
But Prudential Douglas Elliman superbroker Dolly Lenz tells The Post's Braden Keil the story is only half-true. The apartment "is in contract," she said, adding that the undisclosed price would be a record for the building. "But it certainly isn't the Cruises or any other celebrities who bought it."Had it been true, TomKat could have ended up being neighbors with Yoko Ono and Lauren Bacall, effectively creating their own real-life, bizarro world "Hollywood Squares." Pity.
