After a two-year wait since their last release, the White Stripes announced the completion of their sixth studio album, Icky Thump. Jack and Meg White dished details about the forthcoming disc in an announcement from their website, claiming the disc will drop "as soon as corporately possible."

The record was recorded in Nashville at Blackbird Studio. And word around the sewing circle is that many of your favorite White Stripe type songs may not be your favorite (pronounced favaright) White Stripe type songs for long.

Some song titles include:

Catch Hell Blues
Little Cream Soda
Monkeys Have It Easy (discarded)
Rag and Bone
Clicky Bump (retitled into something pleasant)
Blue Orchid (relocated to previous album)
You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You're Told)

It was the longest time the delightful duo have ever spent in the studio, totaling almost three weeks. Jack and Meg were said to have been looking like they were "into it almost. ' And even Meg herself was quoted while leaving a local Nashville Laundromat saying that the record was, in her best estimate, "finished," ""musical in nature" and lastly, though slightly muffled, "good."

NME received a preview of a few tracks, and gave an overall positive review. The site noted the band seemed to be getting back to the classic White Stripes sound, with a heavy guitar sound and 70's riffs, but they kept things fresh by adding a few electronica touches. I'm excited to get a listen, but for now, we have a YouTube clip showing Jack at work in the studio.

In other White Stripes news, Jack White and wife Karen Elson are reportedly expecting their second child together. Although the couple's rep refused to confirm the rumor, a source told Us Weekly the two were "very happy and excited" about the pregnancy.

Icky Thump?? Really? That's the title? I may be showing my age here, but, wasn't Icky Thump a form of martial arts performed with black pudding (I.E. Big Ugly Black Blood Sausages) on the old "Goodies" TV show in Britain?

It there ever was a group overated its this one. They are not musical and their messages are trite and underdeveloped. True they have a great stage presence and hipness but overall they're just an empty postmodern band that yuppies and hipsters like to reference as way to prove their own coolness.

wow, Mr. Jones...

doesn't it seem a bit ignorant to discount other people's honest enjoyment of this band just because you aren't partial to it? you are a narcissistic, shallow little man with a tiny mind - poor you.
