I have heard that in order to maintain a healthy mane, you're supposed to switch your shampoo every three weeks or so. The truth is that your hair doesn't know the difference between brands and experts say that your hair cannot build up a tolerance to your shampoo. Your favorite shampoo will work the same every time you lather up, week after week, month after month.
However, it is a good idea to use a clarifying shampoo if you use particularly sticky styling products that contain wax, or if you have oily hair. Using a clarifying shampoo once every two weeks will help wash away the residue. I don't have oily hair, but because I use hairspray and I have hard water, I like to use a clarifying shampoo to help remove any build-up left behind. Here are some shampoos worth checking out.
Pantene Pro-V Shampoo, Purity Clarifying penetrates the hair and helps to restore the natural amino proteins that can be steadily lost. This product will leave your hair feeling silky and refreshed and is available for $4.39 at www.drugstore.com.

Aubrey Organics Green Tea Clarifying Shampoo contains organic green tea extract, to help protect your hair and tone your scalp. It also contains aloe that will help replenish your hair's natural moisture. This product is a great deep-cleanser for oily hair and is available at www.drugstore.com for $9.98.
Herbal Essences has a Degunkify Tingling Shampoo that will get rid of the leftover "gunk" left behind in your hair from styling products. The smell of pineapple is a tropical touch to a shampoo that will leave your hair feeling refreshed and invigorated. This product can be found where Herbal Essence products are sold such as Target and Walgreens.
I personally love Pureology and their Purifying Shampoo for dull, faded or lifeless hair. It removes the impurities left in your hair from water or from sulfate shampoos and is also a great product to use after you have gone swimming, to protect your hair from the detrimental effects of chlorine. What is great about this product is that it's specially formulated to help restore your color and not let it fade away due to build-up. Pureology Purifying Shampoo is a little more expensive, but you can purchase it for $23.99 at www.drugstore.com.
