Mel Gibson Still Crazy

Melgibson032307

10 bucks this broad got egged on by her friends to see if she could set his ass off. Mel Gibson told a lady to "f*ck off" during a heated back and forth while he was discussing his film "Apocalypto" at Cal State University last night.

After Gibson's presentation, the crowd was allowed to ask questions. Alicia Estrada, an Assistant Professor of Central American Studies at CSUN, challenged Gibson, asking him if he had read about the Mayan culture before shooting the controversial film. Gibson said he had.

Estrada persisted, stating that representations in the movie that the Mayans engaged in sacrificial ceremonies and had bloodthirsty tendencies were both wrong and racist. Estrada and others tell TMZ that Gibson exploded in anger, responding, "Lady, F**k off."

We're told Gibson also became extremely angry when members of the Mayan community protested on how they were portrayed in the film. The emotional Mayan members were escorted out of the room, and we're told Gibson screamed a parting shot -- "Make your own movie!"

That's cool that there's a Mayan community. I had no idea. See, even an vapid whore like me learns a thing or two. Mel Gibson is so unstable, and unable to deal with even the slightest hint of pressure. I'm glad he isn't a kindergarden teacher or work for a bomb squad. Old kook.

Give Mel Gibson a break! Unless you were there and you were a witness to what really happened, stop passing judgment. The hecklers were rude!

Mel Gibson deserves to be heckled. He WAS racist and inaccurate about the culture. Plus, let's face it. He's crazy.

Sorry, I have to side with Mel this time.

He's absolutely right... it's the artist's prerogative to make their message the way they want to without having to run it by every goddamn PC group to make sure it's sterilized to the point where it can't possibly offend anyone.

Ray Bradbury takes the lead from George Orwell in predicting the totalitarian future... Bradbury always said it would be the minorities who ultimately succeeded in bringing about full-scale censorship.

The folks who heckled him obviously had set an ambush and had their own agenda. He was absolutely correct telling them where to go. Bravo Mel (this time, anyway)!

IF someone was being rude and disorderly at my presentation I would say shut the F**K up to B*t*h. She deserved it and he had enough balls to say it.

Soooo I applaud him. Sooooo whats the big deal? get over it and move on peeps who disagree with what he said.

i bet all the supporters of mel gibson are white. we all know he's racist. i'm not surprised he went off the handle. he's unstable to begin with. if he decides to talk in a university he's got to know there will be people who challenge him. stupid, they're not "hecklers." haha! what ig'nant fools. he probably couldn't think of anything else to say so he spoke in his usual colorful language: "f--- off," sounds about right. his rep should've prepped him for challenging questions, asked him, "you think you can handle it mel? make sure you don't reach for the bottle afterwards, okay? people will start to think you're crazy!" haha! too late!

March 23, 2007 6:57 PM

hey M, looks like you're the racist. stop making this into a racist issue. it does not have anything to do with racism. and what makes you think they weren't hecklers? were you there?

March 23, 2007 11:36 PM

He deserves to be challenged--he made a big deal about making his movie with "real" people and speaking a dead language, he should at least be prepared to have people call him out on his depictions of it. You can't claim some brilliant piece of authenticity if it is a bunch of crap. We all know that Mel Gibson is just looking for new ways to put some crazy graphic violence on the big screen as "art". He's a Loony.

what hapend in here?
I think he was frustated.

I think he dealt with the pressure just fine.

Dominating & eliminating your obstacles may not be the best course of action for a kindergarten teacher, but for a movie producer its almost a pre-req.

Later,
Tom

Classy and oh so Christ-like, Mel. Congrats.

Bullshit. He made a movie that he claims is authentic historically.
If he twisted all the facts or just made shit up so that it was no longer the truth, then we have every right to call shenanigans!

He could have made the same movie but renamed the tribes, making it obvious fiction. I suggest a tribe of Xenu fearing, Thetan hating, aliens.
Or wait, do they love Xenu and Thetans?

Mel handled it like a man. Can't deal with it? Move on.

So when someone makes a movie that he claims to be historically accurate, it's still his prerogative to take artistic license? Is that how it works now? The entire Mayan community should just shut up about being portrayed inaccurately as bloodthirsty savages because King Mel says so? They should all just suck it up because hell, the shitty wages and long hours he made the extras in the film work may not be humane or reasonable, but HEY! It's better than what they'd get if they weren't in the movie, right?

Right.

Hypocrites.

Theres something so hot about Mel when he's telling everyone to fuck off. Loves it.

Actually, the Mayans did engage in human sacrifices, albeit on a lesser scale than the Aztecs. As reported on Lifescience.com two years ago, the documentation from both Mayans and Spanish explorers demonstrate this. Where Gibson did screw up is in the choice of wall murals depicting sacrifice for the movie. As MSNBC reported, the choices made by Gibson historical advisor, Robert Hansen were rejected for one that was less historically accurate, but demonstrated matters more clearly.

At that point, the movie was less authentic, but given this is a fictional tale, historical accuracy isn't always necessary in the fine points. It's in the overall matter of the film in which accuracy becomes important.

So Gibson was right. And he also was right in telling the professor to go make her own film. She has a right to make a criticism and he has a right to respond in any way he wants to it.
