Saturday night I went to The Chivas Studio. Here's what the studio is all about:
Chivas Regal® is bringing a taste of The Chivas Life™ to a city near you. For the first time ever, Chivas is proud to present The Chivas Studio, a modern, custom-built lounge designed to bring an unforgettable experience to select audiences in various cities across the country. It will present Scotch education and mentoring sessions, intimate music performances, as well as video suites where you can tell us why you should be chosen to travel around the world as next year's Chivas Life Ambassador.
This night of the studio was a celebration party for actor Diego Luna (Y Tu Mama Tambien). Diego directed a documentary called "Chavez" which explores the life of legendary boxer Julio Cesar Chavez. Unfortunately, the party boy wasn't in attendance.
When my friend Ruben and I arrived at the Studio, we were immediately informed that due to flight delays, Diego was not coming. UGH! One reason we were looking forward to this party was to hopefully meet Diego's BFF Gael Garcia Bernal (Y Tu Mama Tambien) or just admire him from afar.
More on the Chivas Studio party after the jump.
Overall the party was OK. The studio was some rented out space in Beverly Hills that I swear used to be an Italian furniture store back in the day. I'm not sure if the word got out on the street that Diego wasn't coming, because the party NEVER filled up. At its peak I'd say only 20 people were there. But, it was all good; we still got to enjoy the open Chivas bar, appetizers and awesome sets by a DJ that was playing great mashups. My favorite was one he did with Daft Punk and Garbage.
Even though the event was kind of a bust, it was a great warm-up for the shenanigans we got into later that night hitting 4 more bars! Ugh! Sunday morning was not fun.
