Another designing great has perished. Steven Robinson was found dead in his home in Paris. One of the masterminds behind the Dior line was a mere thirty-eight years old when he passed away on Wednesday. He was a "burly fellow," who never desired the limelight and was content to do his work behind the scenes. Early reports point to a fatal heart attack, but as yet nothing has been confirmed.
Robinson made his debut into the fashion world as a lowly intern at John Galliano's studio. Soaking up information like a style-hungry sponge, his ideas eventually merged with those of Galliano to form the Dior signature style. The eclectic Galliano house went from rags to riches, with Steven never leaving John's side. He has had a hand in dressing Princess Diana, Cate Blanchett and Dita Von Teese.
The International Herald Tribune caught up with Stephen Jones who recently worked side by side with Steven.
"He took John's kernel of an idea and made it reality - he was the huge engine and realiz-er at Galliano and very importantly at Dior."It is truly saddening to see such talent and a genuinely good natured person pass away at such an untimely age. My condolences go out to his friends and family.
