Johnny Cash's House Burns Down

God, this picture just makes me sad. I know that at least no one was injured in the blaze, but looking at a picture of a burned-down house--Johnny Cash's especially--just makes me feel like I'm looking at a depressing country song waiting to happen.

The Tennessee home of late country icon Johnny Cash burned down on Tuesday as renovations were under way for its new owner, Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees, a local newspaper reported.

Cash and his wife, June Carter Cash, lived together in the three-story, wooden lakeside house in Hendersonville, Tennessee, about 20 miles north of Nashville, from 1968 until they died within months of each other in 2003.

Perhaps the house was simply rebelling against the affront of going from country to disco. And, I know what you're thinking: "Where's the 'Ring of Fire' joke?" and quite honestly, I have more taste than to resort to that. But just barely.

Barry should definitely sue that construction company for failing to take proper precautions after the wood was treated.

Their carelessness has destroyed a Tennessee landmark.

I bet John Jr is pissed. I think he was born in that house. ???

What a total and complete shame. Someone should definitely pay for what happened to the place. I agree, Tom - that house was a true Tennessee landmark.

now this is just depressing... :(

I was shocked to hear on "Eagle 99"
that Johnny Cash's beloved home burned
down.
I don't know, who is responsible for a
disaster like this, but people should
find this out and bring the case to court.

I hope, this Cash Landmark will be rebuilt!

Interesting how many comments are about "blame".

I wonder if John and June would have had that attitude....I doubt they would have. They were classier than that.....thanks goodness.

They would probably have written a song to help heal their sorrow.....and moved on with smiles amd memories......

i think its sad that his house burn down. johnny cash was an american icon. a legend.
