The White House Correspondents' Association Dinner over the weekend saw a face-off between Sheryl Crow and Laurie David versus Karl Rove. The two ladies share a passion for the environment and got into it with the Chief of Staff over the issue of "global warming." The New York Daily News reports:

David, the wife of churlish "Curb Your Enthusiasm" star Larry David, said she and her rock-star pal had hoped Rove might take a "fresh look at the science of global warming" when they met him at the black-tie gala in D.C. But, according to David, Rove "immediately got combative. . . . Throwing a tantrum, Mr. Rove launched into a series of illogical arguments."

As he headed toward his table, "Sheryl reached out to touch his arm," David writes on TheHuffingtonPost.com. "Karl swung around and spat, 'Don't touch me.' How hardened and removed from reality must a person be to refuse to be touched by Sheryl Crow?

"Unfazed, Sheryl abruptly responded, 'You can't speak to us like that, you work for us.' Karl then quipped, 'I don't work for you, I work for the American people.' . . . Sheryl promptly reminded him, 'We are the American people.' "

Oh snap! Sounds like they were getting ready to throw some bows up in the White House. However, the way Karl tells it, Sheryl "came over to insult me and she succeeded." I'm seriously disappointed this didn't end in a slap-fight. But then again, I'm generally disappointed if any and everything doesn't end in a slap fight. Shit, I wish this blog post would end in a slap fight...

Another classy guy in Washington. Don't forget these days in this country we don't ask questions..we do as we are told and we are told what to think. Ahhh freedom!

Rove was just re-assuring the American people that he is still an incredible ass and has no business being a "public servant" Still, you'd think he would have enough smarts to at least pretend that he was interested in what these ladies were saying!

Crow and David should stay out of politics! The common folks share their opinions. Entertainers shove their platforms down your throat.I don't blame Rove.

Well that's the only thing republicans do with confronted with intelligent, well-researched arguments. Get combative! *coughbilloreillycough*

I think Crow and the other gal are just sticking their noses in where they should not. The gals just wanted to tweak Rove's nose and I am glad Rove brushed them off. Who the hell appointed these entertainers as environmentalists. Crow is not coming off as a mental giant with her statement about using one square of toilet paper. Face it, these women are in need of a kick in the pants. Anyways, I really do not care for either of them. Kick ass Mr. Rove!

Way to go Sheryl.

People who are dumb enough to take the obviously joking blog entry about toilet paper seriously should go back to first grade.
Or maybe they should read the whole thing instead of meekly swallowing what Faux news force-feeds them.
She should have kicked the rude idiot in the youknowwhats - then again he probably does not have youknowwhats. "Don't touch me" ... wuzz, primadonna, sissy ...

I love it when conservatives go off about celebrities talking politics. It is often followed with bullshit platitudes about how Reagan was the greatest president ever. Perhaps they think celebrities should only be allowed to talk about politics if they have no talent (i.e. Reagan, Schwarzenegger, Sonny Bono).

Oh, snap!!

Ten points to Sheryl.

Good for Sheryl for reminding politicians that ultimately they work for the American people. They to have forgotten this little tidbit of information. While I do agree with Sheryl's reminder to Rove, I also agree with some of the other sentiments out here about celebrities pushing their ideas on to the public and other politicians (without actually fully researching the situation). At times it seems more about ego than cause, but time will tell, right?

Knowing what the White House has done with past e-mails, I believe they have become obsessed with messages on the internet and otherwise. I wouldn't be surprised if some Bush administration flunkie (BTW, Rove went to 6 colleges and never graduated) is posting here to counteract the negative story. He told a BREAST CANCER SURVIVOR to not touch him. Nice guy.

Mr T - upset because your precious prezzie is universally detested? I wish Rove would have choked on a roll. While doing another fake rap.

While I agree some celebrities do get over-zealous for their pet-causes, at least they care! They are in a great position to garner attention for the cause they care most for and they use it. At least they are giving their time...more then most Americans can say!
Maybe Ms. Crow did take some joy in pissing Rove off...bottom line is he IS working for us and he handled the situation very unprofessionally.

Excuse me no matter how annoying celebrities are if you are a citizen (resident) then you have a voice and the right to use it. I think that the comments telling SC to stay out of politics and that its none of her business are ridiculous! Just because you don't like the speaker does not mean that the person doesn't have the right to speak. I can not stand Bill O'ass hole but he does have the right to open his mouth and let all the shit and lies fly out :-)

Rove wasn't elected into an office...he's Bush's ass wipe man...um I mean "brain". I didn't vote for him, and I sure as hell don't want him working FOR me. He's just like the rest of the "cronies" in the white house...useless!!

I wouldn't want Crow to touch me. She only used 1 piece of toilet paper to wipe her bum!
